A quality live recording that showcases the art of flamenco, June 7, 2010
The group Jaleo performs the toques on this CD with flair and panache to the delight of a live audience. The singer, Pepe de Pura, interprets the cantes here with duende and aire and is ably accompanied by two guitarists and two dancers. The group's interaction is complimentary and supportive, as each performer is allowed unlimited musical expression and creativity without being intrusive or needlessy virtuoso. The "Garrotin" is the crowd pleaser of the program, and another excellent track is a solo interpretation of a taranta that illustrates the wonderful technique of "El Ingles". Each of the five artists are in top form and this flamenco CD is one of the best of its kind that deserves a much wider listening audience.
