I am still in awe with this novel. Flames of Deception is exactly what is says. When I first saw the cover it intrigued me. When I started reading, it mesmerized me. Hamilton, Candice and Melina are the characters in which you can relate and either love or hate them. THis novel is surreal and with each turn of the page you get addicted in finding out the truth.. 3.0 out of 5 stars He came to steal, kill and destroy..., December 20, 2010
This review is from: Flames Of Deception (Paperback)
Candice George is the CEO of the George Modeling Agency in Philadelphia. Candice's boyfriend, Hamilton Barker, stresses Candice out with his philandering ways, his lies, and continuous treachery. A frustrated Candice ends their relationship and finds herself in the arms of police officer named Damon Hunter. Damon is a good man that is more than happy to satisfy her every need. Melina Divine and Candice have been best friends since grade school, and when Melina's mother died, Carl George took Melina into his home and raised her as his very own.

What seems to be a very simple storyline of love and lies soon transforms into a huge tale of betrayal, trickery, and deceit overflowing with secrets, sexual exploitations, and immorality. Will Hamilton accept Candice's ending their relationship peacefully, or is she just a trophy piece that he wants to have on his shelf? Is Damon too good to be true? Was it her beauty that really captivated Damon, or does he have an ulterior motive like everyone else in Candice's life? Melina owes Candice and her family her life, but does her loyalty belong to the George's or to her own selfish whims? How will all of these characters that have surrounded this one pawn evolve as their true quests are revealed? Candice George is only guilty of giving her love unselfishly. Can her heart and mind sustain the scars that she will have to bear when the Flames of Deception erupt in a fiery and lethal flame? Marcia E. Woodruff did a magnificent job with this piece. The suspense was amazing and the ending was fantastic!

3.0 out of 5 stars Like a roller coaster...Sisterhood Book Club review, November 29, 2010
By
This review is from: Flames Of Deception (Paperback)
The author puts you in the life's of Candice, Hamilton, Melina and two mystery people that's later revealed in the story.

Candice is the lady to Hamilton and the best friend of Melina. Candice and Melina grow up together in the same house. Candice hired Hamilton to be a model and they got together. Hamilton world is very complicated from beginning to end but Hamilton gives all the characters the run for their money.

Everyday Candice makes it a point to tell Melina the details of her and Hamilton night, so Melina decides to try it out for herself and get caught up in Hamilton world of webs. Melina lives day in and day out with knowing that she has double cross her best friend Candice. She does everything in her power to not let any or anyone find out about her and Hamilton.

Something went down in Detroit that made Hamilton a wanted man. He thought for sure all his problems were long gone, but little did he know that the police was closing in on him. Hamilton loves Candice but was sexing her mother and Melina on the side. For some strange reason the ladies couldn't resist the magic touch of Big H.

Once Candice finds out of Hamilton ways she quickly relieves him of all his duties as her man. To Hamilton that was a slap in the face and he wasn't haven't. He pulls out all his cards of blackmail and demands all his females to do what he says, but a little to late. All the blackmailing leads to more lies, decent and killing. Little did everyone know that the killer was right under their noses?

The book was a roller coaster, it started off as a romance, went to freaky and last but not least murder. I was very confused, especially at the end it was terrible...It's a sequel in the making.

4.0 out of 5 stars Too Much Revenge?, October 14, 2010
This review is from: Flames Of Deception (Paperback)
In Flames of Deception, you will find a never ending whirlwind of twists and turns. Just when you think you know who all the parties that are involved, then another one comes into the mix. Not only is it full of sex, but it's full of scandal, deception and betrayal.

When Candice George meets Hamilton Baker, she thinks she found "the One". That thought is soon replaced with the thought that "enough is enough", after dealing for too long with Hamilton's cheating way. When she finally has enough and tells him it's over FOR GOOD, Hamilton feels betrayed. Even though he has been the one cheating with countless women for years, when Candice moves on to a new man soon after her break with Hamilton, he swears revenge. Black mailing those close to her, who also have a few secrets of their own, that he knows about, he plans the most extreme way to get revenge on Candice and her new beau. All the while, unknown to him, his past is fast on his heels.

With minimal grammar mistakes, the book was an easy read and flowed nicely. Although you might find the level of revenge a bit much, you can't help but enjoy the read and how it all falls into place.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deception at it's Finest, August 9, 2010
This review is from: Flames Of Deception (Paperback)
Hamilton Barker is the epitome of every woman's dream. He is tall, dark, and handsome. He has a girlfriend, Candice, who is the epitome of every man's dream. Hamilton uses Candice as a trophy piece and the fact that she is well off, gives him even more incentive to keep her around. He hasn't been faithful to Candice in the five years that they have been together.
Despite his charming good looks, Hamilton quickly becomes the character that you love to hate. He has a dark past that Candice isn't aware of. As the story slowly reveals the details of Hamilton's dark past, the book became a page turner that literally had me on the edge of my seat. And with every new character, was a new twist as I discovered that they each had their own connection to Hamilton.
The story contained in this book was full of what we love most....DRAMA! It was all drama based upon betrayal and deceit. I quickly considered Hamilton the villain of the book and found myself anticipating his demise. Unfortunately, both I and the characters in the book, didn't quite give him the credit he deserved. The book closed with an unbelievable ending that left me speechless. I am eagerly awaiting a sequel to this book as Candice the damsel, was not the only character left in distress.
