This book of new psalms delivers everything it promised. I was deeply moved by Perlman's exceptional use of the language to express a broad range of human experience in a spiritual context. Her words elevate my prayers to a new level of awareness and connectedness. I feel more human, more alive, more fragile and yet more invincible since I got this book.The psalms cover many life situations, birth to death and much that lies between. The words are neither syrupy nor dull, often striking an exquisite balance of everydayness with spiritual fire. These small bundles are a tremendous gift that has improved my relationship with my God. I cannot recommend it too highly.

So often the material we are given during significant struggle is about denying the pain and hardship we encounter. i read these psalms to my father as he lay on his death bed and have used them countless times with congregants who are ill or facing beginning of treatment and similar important critical life events. I have shared them from the pulpit and have found them to speak to all kinds of people as being comforting in that the author understood pain and longing and makes it so that people in that place are not there alone.
