5.0 out of 5 stars "Flames of a Rose", February 9, 2005
This review is from: Flames of a Rose (Paperback)
"Flames of a Rose" carries you to those places that human emotions need nurtured.
While reading such poems as "Lonely Heart" you can't help but feel a heart break, as it goes through its journey of a heart ache.
You will find so many things to connect to in the pages of "Flames of a Rose" , you may even find your self on an adventure or two, such in the poem titled "Dreams". It will take you away to a place we seek to connect to, that are of all great and small.
(Reviewed by Bonnie Florea, author of "Shades Of Gray" and established Poet.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Love poems for the ones you love!, January 17, 2007
This review is from: Flames of a Rose (Paperback)
In a time when all poetry falls into aimless free verse patterns, a return to form and structure is always appreciated, even unique. Flames of a Rose is the debut collection of author Lorna Joy Knox nee Ramsamugh. As the title implies, the stories focus on love, both romantic and familial, as the author pulls us on a whirlwind journey through life in all of its complexities.
The mood changes: sometimes fed up and frustrated, sometimes ecstatic in love's embrace. This myriad of emotions reminds readers that they are participating in, not a single flamelike romance, but an entire life filled with family and angst, love and growth. Nature, holidays, travel, personalities: all appear in no particular order, swirling together to form a complex image.
"My Rose" rhymes delicately to a loved one, while "Infinity" speaks with giddy enthusiasm of the wondrous joys of nature. "To see, summer breezes wave the golden grass/ to dance among fresh herbs, jasmine in such golden class," (30) the author writes in glowing euphoria. "Precious Gran" is a sweet, adoring poem to which all readers can relate. "Sunday Mornings" and "Clutter" appear side by side, reminding readers of the multitude of disparate experiences that make up family life.
Knox's poetry has won international acclaim and appeared in a variety of anthologies. Her first collection, with its stunning cover and soulful words, cannot fail to touch its readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Poetry!, January 25, 2005
This review is from: Flames of a Rose (Paperback)
The poetry contained within the pages of FLAMES OF A ROSE are all very moving and engage every emotion. The words flow in a wonderful rhythm as we are taken away by their sheer beauty. One of my favorite poems in this collection is the one with the rose in the garden of other flowers. I could feel the sense of majesty in this very beautiful flower It's very easy to become caught up in the all the different poems assembled in this collection. If you enjoy poetry, this collection is a must!
