This review is from: Flannery O'Connor: Her Life, Library and Book Reviews (Studies in Women & Religion) (Hardcover)
Divided into four parts, this indexed volume -- the fifth of Edwin Mellen's series, "Studies in Women and Religion" -- offers a perspective of Flannery O'Connor's intellectual activities. Explores the collected holdings of her personal library (housed in the Flannery O'Connor Collection of the Ina Dillard Russell Library at Georgia College & State University), and reprints of her book reviews.
Includes a 55-page literary biography that focuses on how her fiction reflects "her response to the influence of her societal, familial, religious and literary milieu." Then focuses on O'Connor's personal library, providing readers with a list of its volumes, and describes inscriptions and annotations. Does so, "to determine the literary and religious spectrum against which she [O'Connor] developed as an intellectal and critic." Outlines O'Connor's work "as a a book critic," presenting, in chronological order of publication, texts of her published reviews and lists of all her known reviews, published and unpublished. R.
