4.0 out of 5 stars Third in the collected Flash Gordon color Sunday strips, October 25, 1999

This review is from: Flash Gordon Escapes to Arboria (Paperback)
Alex Raymond's artwork is maturing in this increasingly elegant fantasy, originally created as a rival to the popular comic strip: "Buck Rogers in the 21st Century".

Having destroyed the monster ray gun of the evil Ming the Merciless, Emporer of Mongo, heroic Flash Gordon, his plucky but fretful girlfriend Dale Arden and brilliant scientist Alexei Zarkov flee to the forest realm of Prince Barin and the latter's new wife, former Flash flame Princess Allura. Ming learns that Barin and his buddies are growing their hair; he plots to kidnap the newborn Crown Prince of Arboria to bring the kid up right. Peril abounds for Flash and Co.!

Raymond essentially abandons space-fantasy in this part of the series; Flash is now an actor in a kind of modern Ruritarian romance. Campy fun!
