This guide simplifies the process of learning Flash, the Macromedia product for creating interactive animations using vector graphics. The authors first explain the Flash interface and then teach you how to create drawings using the package's Pencil, Line, Ink Bottle, Brush, Paint Bucket, Eraser, Lasso, and other tools. You learn how to create a simple Flash Animation and understand the concept of layers, onion-skinning, and frame-by-frame and tweened animations. The authors next explain how to tackle advanced techniques to produce multiple-layer, multiple-scene animations. You learn how to create a storyboard and animate it, add sound to your movie, export and publish your work, add interactivity to your animations, and place Flash animations on an HTML page.
The authors understand that not all readers are professional illustrators and that you don't have to be one to create decent artwork in Flash. Case studies at the back of the book explore Web sites, such as MSN and NBC, that make good use of Flash. A full-color gallery in the middle of the book shows you examples of these sites. The companion hybrid CD-ROM has Web and graphics utilities for Windows and Macintosh.
