It's a power - draw heat issue. The socket can be used for anything that would normally screw into it. But being labeled CFL only they avoid the liability of someone burning down their business or home by over loading it. Most of these sockets are used by photographers and are covered or wrapped trapping even more heat.
Without taking down the light fixture in the garage ( my garage ceiling is about 14 feet high), I would say the distance between each sockets is no more then 2 inches. I feel any normal compact fluorescent would fit, but the Eiko 81180 - SP105/50/MED would not since there is not enough clearance between the sockets. In addition I have the Utilitech 65-Watt (300W) Spiral Medium Base Soft White (2700K) CFL Bulb in another socket in a workshop and feel the weight of the bulb alone would be to much for the base. I would stick to something similar to 4 GE CFL Light Bulb: 26 Watt (100W Equivalent) bulbs for this socket, which ended up being more light then I expected. Anything more would not fit or exceed the weight the socket could handle. The socket base is just plastic and doesn't exactly fit very tight.
Even though they appear to have a seam that looks like it would contain a hinge joint, neither the angle of the four sockets, nor their spacing are adjustable. The rectangular slot-like aspects on the side of each socket are the joining points between the plastic base of the sockets and their cylindrical extensions. This dovetail design provides more stability than other methods of joining two pieces of plastic together.
It only weighs a few ounces, and is made to screw into a standard light bulb socket. The cord would have to be a heavy enough gauge to allow for the current that will be used and each socket I believe is good for 60 watts.
talk english, if you mean, will it screw into a standard ceiling light fixture that takes a standard light bulb or a cfl bulb
the answer is yes, just make sure the fixture your using will safely support the weight of the flashpoint & four bulbs.
Actual wattage. Therefore each of the 4 sockets can individually accept 45 watts. This provides a great lighting advantage if you were to use CFL or LED lights which provide more light while using less power (watts).
