Will this fit in a clamp lamp reflector like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Woods-0162-2-Ga... Jun 10, 2014
Had to go into the garage to try it out. I have a similar style clamp lamp and it does not fit. This adapter goes from a regular (male) socket screw to a 4" diameter plate too quickly.
Why is this 'only' for use with CFL bulbs? (and not, for ex, LEDs or incandescents below 45 watts)? Feb 20, 2013
It's a power - draw heat issue. The socket can be used for anything that would normally screw into it. But being labeled CFL only they avoid the liability of someone burning down their business or home by over loading it. Most of these sockets are used by photographers and are covered or wrapped trapping even more heat.
Are the individual sockets adjustable, can they be spread out, swivel, twist or are they fixed? Jan 28, 2015
Even though they appear to have a seam that looks like it would contain a hinge joint, neither the angle of the four sockets, nor their spacing are adjustable. The rectangular slot-like aspects on the side of each socket are the joining points between the plastic base of the sockets and their cylindrical extensions. This dovetail design provides more stability than other methods of joining two pieces of plastic together.
What are the dimensions of this? What's the distance between adjacent sockets? Can you fit 4x Eiko 81180 - SP105/50/MED in it? Oct 2, 2013
Without taking down the light fixture in the garage ( my garage ceiling is about 14 feet high), I would say the distance between each sockets is no more then 2 inches. I feel any normal compact fluorescent would fit, but the Eiko 81180 - SP105/50/MED would not since there is not enough clearance between the sockets. In addition I have the Utilitech 65-Watt (300W) Spiral Medium Base Soft White (2700K) CFL Bulb in another socket in a workshop and feel the weight of the bulb alone would be to much for the base. I would stick to something similar to 4 GE CFL Light Bulb: 26 Watt (100W Equivalent) bulbs for this socket, which ended up being more light then I expected. Anything more would not fit or exceed the weight the socket could handle. The socket base is just plastic and doesn't exactly fit very tight.
Since I need to get it through a round hole, please tell me the maximum diameter... that must be around the top of the 4 sockets. Nov 10, 2012
The top diameter is 5 3/8" across the sockets.
will 4 of these fit, weight and dimension wise Feit Electric ESL40TN/D 42-Watt Compact Fluorescent High-Wattage Bulb, Daylight May 18, 2015
Yes it will. I have a combination of two LED lamps from Lowes and two 32 wCFL and use the light as an up light in my home office.
Approximately 4" x 4" x 4".
I routinely leave over 12hrs a day. 3 things though, I have air circulation the lamps are pointing upwards, and as per manufacturer I use CFLs
