The Rolling Stones Charlie is my Darling - Ireland 1965 Super Deluxe Box Set Animation

A History in the Whirlwind: The Rolling Stones’ 50th Anniversary

By Anthony DeCurtis

When the nascent Rolling Stones began playing gigs around London in 1962, the notion that a rock & roll band would last five years, let alone fifty, was an absurdity. After all, what could possibly be more ephemeral than rock & roll, the latest teenage fad? Besides, other factors made ... Read more in Amazon's The Rolling Stones Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Flashpoint February 28, 2011

Got to say, I disagree with another reviewer that said this album was stale. Every song is good and it pin points a time in the Stones career that was sort of their come back. Steel Wheels was the 1st studio album in 3 yrs and they were in top form playing great live versions of Ruby Tuesday and Sympathy For The Devil, along with cuts from Steel Wheels. Back when the album came out it was 12.00 for the record or $20.00 for the cd so this price is not bad considering its 100% remasterd. Start me up opens the album and
Satisfaction ends the live portion. Then as the other reviewer stated, Highwire and Sex Drive are the two studio cuts. Great time piece and a darn good underated live album. If you don't have it, get it!

"Flashpoint" is subtitled "Recorded Live 1989-90 Steel Wheels / Urban Jungle World Tour" and was originally released in 1991. Most true Stones fans will love this CD. It holds up favorably to other live recordings ("Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out", "Love You Live", "Still Life", "Live Licks", and "Stripped"). In fact, "Flashpoint" has some of the edginess of "Live Licks" and some of the laid back charm of "Stripped". Jagger, Richards, Wood, Wyman and Watts are backed up by the fabulous Bobby Keys on sax, plus other horns and 2 on keyboards. Some unknown dude named Eric Clapton ;-) plays guitar on "Little Red Rooster" (the only non-Jagger/Richards composition on the set). Collectors may want to consider the 2-CD deluxe version Flashpoint which includes "Everything Is Turning To Gold", "Fancy Man Blues", "Beat of Burden", and "Cook Cook Blues" (not to be confused with the rare and raw C.S. Blues), plus a bunch of disco-like remixes from 1978-89. Much of this material also appears on the recent mega-set The Complete Singles (1971-2006) [45 CDs] although in different configurations; several of the deluxe extras appear on Rarities 1971-2003.

Never have been a Rolling Stones fan--saw video on You Tube for Little Red Rooster with Eric Clapton and Rolling Stones and had to have it--didn't expect to like any of the other songs on the CD but I did--great CD!
