Don't Fight the Flavor, November 7, 2006
This review is from: Flavor Flav (Audio CD)
I had the same reaction at first, but Flav won me over. U gotta feel him -- he's putting everything he has into it, unlike the average artist who serves up the same prepackaged poses. For that reason alone I think the jointz he's singin on are the realest stuff on the album. plus, he "bringz tha noise" on a few cuts for the PE fans. Flav a joke? don't believe tha hype, boyyeee...

Flavor Flav - Hollywood, November 2, 2006
This review is from: Flavor Flav (Audio CD)
I grew up on Public Enemy and loved the contrast between the straight-man Chuck D and the goofball Flavor Flav. So my friend let me listen to Flav's new looooong overdue solo record. Presumably, the only reason this got released was because of his success with VH1's Flavor of Love.
The album starts out with Flav singing! This is hilariously entertaining. The second song sounds like it was made 10 years ago because it's Flav rapping like he used to in his Public Enemy days.
The album has this rushed feel to it. None of the songs really go together. The album is a mix of his old solo records that never got released from about ten years ago (his harder rapping), and his newer funner, more comedic side.
The album clocks in at 77 minutes long, which is waaaaay too long. I found myself skipping ahead through almost all of the songs. The could have cut out a lot of it and still not lost the effect.
The newer stuff is downright funny - a 10 on the unintentional comedy scale. I would say it's gawdawful, but in a fun, hilarious, stupid kind of way. It was an enjoyable listen - a good laugh. But I don't think I would spend my money on this.

good idea wrong decade, November 14, 2007

flav was supposed to make a solo album around 90-91 when pe was at the top of their game but don't know if drug issues or griff's anti semitic remarks or unknown foerces was against it anyway flav now a reality tv star decides to milk his newfound fame to the dust and yes it's a funny cd it would be better if it came out in the early nineties it might have went gold.
