From the Publisher

Flavors of the Fjords "may be the most detailed history of a Norwegian-American family yet published," noted the Royal Norwegian Embassy. "Flavors of the Fjords, the Norwegian Holiday Cookbook," is a most unusual oversize book, reported the Newport, RI Daily News. "The 317-page, well-indexed book, contains scores of photographs taken in Norway and the Newport area dating back to the last century. It would make a perfect Christmas gift." the Daily News concluded. Flavors of the Fjords received a warm reception from the Norwegian press. "A Beautiful Book About A Family Of Emigrants," reported Sunndal (Tidenskrev). "Quite a sensational thing happened in Sunndal Wednesday. Descendants from the Fladvad family, who immigrated to American in the last century, have published a book with old, highly treasured recipes, which one of the women brought along on the long trip across the Atlantic, and the history of daily life among a Norwegian American family. Aura Avis headlined: "Family History from Sunndal Became Beautiful Book in USA." "Flavors of the Fjords is the name of a unique and beautiful book newly published in the United States. As the title indicates, it is among other things a cookbook with a taste of the fjords, but it is even more so a family history, where Flatvad in the Sunndal is the center of interest."
