5.0 out of 5 stars The easy way to get flax oil into your diet!, March 17, 2001

This review is from: Flax for Life!: 101 Delicious Recipes and Tips Featuring Fabulous Flax Oil (Paperback)
Flax for Life has some great ordinary recipes for you to get into the habit of incorporating flax oil and flax seed into your daily diet. It gives some good basic information about the benefits of flax oil, such as getting the essential fatty acids to maintain optimum health. Flax oil is one of the best oils to ingest daily, it also helps to lower cholesterol, help with heart disease and numerous other benefits, too many to mention here. The recipes include such things as Middle Eastern Bean Dip, Barlean Butter, Fresh Fruit Breakfast Muesli, Creamy Garlic Dressing and over 95 more recipes. The book is "a good price" and is a gem in my opinion!

This book is not advertised as being vegan but, with the exception of a few recipes that contain cheese or tuna, they are all safe. I've even made those two cheese/tuna recipes substituting Follow your Heart vegan cheese and Worthington's "Tuna safe tuna" product called Tunno.

This book promotes Barlean's Organic Flax Oil specifically. I use Trader Joe's flax oil because it's usually half the price. Costco now has a big bucket of raw sprouted flax for around $[...][...] and that stuff can be incorporated into the Flax for Life meals too. I've used this guide once per week for the last six years that I've owned it. The shakes at the end are yum. Favorite Recipies:

0. All the shakes
1. Szechwan Peanut Sauce on p. 54. (Worth the price of the book alone)
2. Tabouli on p. 46
3. Miso Ginger dressing on p. 31
4. Green Goddess Thai dressing on p. 30
5. Barlean's Best Oatmeal on p. 14

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, March 28, 2009

This has some of the most delicious recipes for sauces I've ever tasted. The peanut sauce is the best ever. Flax is a really great oil to add -- especially for vegetarians and vegans (like me) but it's easy to do the same dish all the time. This book is a "must have" for any chef. All the recipes are delicious but the sauces are world class. This is a great primer for adding flax in interesting and very yummy dishes. My daughter gave this book to me as a gift and I've bought copies as gifts for many others. The cover doesn't seem all that exciting but the recipes are great.
