Approach with Caution,
By a wonderfully nutty taste that adds character to baked goods and hot cereal. They are very high in soluble fibre and can be toasted in a skillet or incorporated in the crust of breads. There are a few things you should know before buying this product however: * flax seed meal goes rancid easily. you can tell if rancidity has set in by a slightly bitter taste to the meal. The best way to incorporate flax in your diet is to buy fresh whole seeds from a source that turns them over frequently and grind them yourself.(a small electric coffee grinder will do the trick.) Flax seed oil is even more perishable. * the fatty acids in flax are no substitute for the EFA's in fish or fish oil. The ratio of 3's to 6's is way too high and research has established that most of us do not convert one to the other. * when you first start to add flax to your diet, be sure to drink a lot of water. --Lynn Hoffman, author of THE NEW SHORT COURSE IN WINE and the forthcoming novel bang BANG from Kunati Books.ISBN 9781601640005 2115|R10QG3RBPFXU1C;
