This book is full of great and economical ideas for how to decorate on a small budget. It had lots of creative ideas to incorporate found objects into a unique decorating esthetic.

Yes, it's British - but I find that to be a very appealing quality. Shows great use of limited space, good decorating tricks for brightening rooms, appreciation for clever garden ideas, plus uniquely-British hominess (tea-cozies, free-standing radiators, fun tea towels, antique china). Items shown in the book are accessible through on-line charity auction sites all the time in the U.S. at very reasonable prices. This book just gives one a clue as to what to look for. Also check out other (British-style) books by the same author.

Handsome photography, nicely written text and good ideas. The main problem with this book is that whole thing is quite British. You won't find the same stuff in the flea markets here west of the Mississippi, and if you did, it wouldn't be affordable! Some of the ideas will translate, but if your book budget is limited, give this one a pass.

I read the entire book. I liked the way they broke it down into Town/Country/Modern/Collectors' and Outside. I also liked the way the authors did not run the text to the next page with the descriptions on the previous page so you did not have to read on and then flip back to see what they were talking about. Instead, they included the descriptions on the same page as the text and also they did not print descriptions on top of photographs to make them nearly unreadable. Photographs were good and allowed you to see specific items both close up and in the context of the room. I love books that let me know I am not the only insane collector in the world!
