About the Author

P.C. Cast is an award-winning fantasy and paranormal romance author, as well as an experienced speaker and teacher. With her daughter Kristin Cast, she is the author of the House of Night novels, including Awakened, Burned and Hunted. Cast was born in the Midwest, and as a girl fell in love with mythology. After high school, she joined the U.S. Air Force, then taught high school for 15 years before retiring to write full time. Cast’s novels are New York Times bestsellers and have been awarded the Oklahoma Book Award, YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers, Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award, the Prism, Holt Medallion, Daphne du Maurier, Booksellers’ Best, and the Laurel Wreath. More About the Author

P.C. Cast was born in Watseka, Illinois, and grew up being shuttled back-and-forth between Illinois and Oklahoma, which is where she fell in love with Quarter Horses and mythology (at about the same time). After high school she joined the United States Air Force and began public speaking and writing. Since her tour in the USAF, she has been speaking and teaching professionally.

Ms. Cast is an award winning fantasy and paranormal romance author. Her novels have been awarded the prestigious: Prism, Holt Medallion, Daphne du Maurier, Booksellers' Best, and the Laurel Wreath.

Ms. Cast writes the popular Goddess Summoning Series for Berkley Publishing. The forth book in the series, GODDESS OF THE ROSE, A Retelling of Beauty and the Beast, is a Feburary 2006 release.

In December 2004, LUNA (Harlequin's single title fantasy imprint for women) released ELPHAME'S CHOICE, the first of five epic fantasy novels set in the world of Cast's popular first book, GODDESS BY MISTAKE. The Fledgling Handbook 101 turned out to be a disappointing read. I didn't even finish and passed it off to my son who also is an avid reader of the HON series. The book had a promising start with what you would expect to find in a 'handbook' for a vampyre fledgling. After the initial introduction of what to expect, description of the HON forms (which was interesting), Celebrations, and information about the Dark Daughters/Sons, the book just rambled off into history. I expected more information regarding what would be taught in the classes and daily life in the HON.

I really wish I hadn't spent my money on this book! The idea was interesting...give some insight into the HON world and see what the fledglings actually get. I was not impressed and wish I had waited to the next actual book to get my fix.

As an avid House of Night fan, I eagerly awaited the release of this book and bought it the day it became available. What a disappointment! I think I expected it to be tied into the actual House of Night series and characters-unfortunately it wasn't. This book is dull, boring and a waste of money. I had to really push myself to finish it, hoping it would get better as it went along-but it stayed dull & boring right to the end. I'm very disappointed. Save your money.
