4.0 out of 5 stars scam city of pump and dump, September 1, 2009
This review is from: Fleecing the Lamb: The Inside Story of the Vancouver Stock Exchange (Hardcover)
In 1988 the authors recounted the long inglorious story of the Vancouver Stock Exchange. They describe how for decades it became the stronghold of dubious penny stocks, often mining dominated. Typically, these would be companies with a great story and nothing behind it in terms of actual performance. Thus we see accounts of several companies, where the stocks often indeed traded at penny prices, punctuated by pump and dump schemes.

The book is a cautionary and timeless tale of buyer beware. While the VSE is no more, scams will always occur and the reader can benefit by reading carefully the book's examples.
