5.0 out of 5 stars A unique book!, September 17, 2009
This review is from: The Fleet Submarine Torpedo Data Computer (Paperback)
I always wondered how torpedos were aimed before computers. I wonder no more! I also see it is possible to add, subtract, multiply and divide variables using gears and wheels. This book documents technology built over many years and was lost with the microchip almost over night. The book has overviews you would expect, and goes deep into design of all the components that make the system that aims torpedos. For someone writing a submarine game, this is a must. Learn how submarine movies got it entirely wrong! The author did not stop when the going got tough, he went to the sites and took pictures of the last existing examples. An excellent effort by someone who loves his work.
