Why bother?,
By Chris (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fleetwood Mac (Complete Guides to the Music of) (Paperback)
Why did this person bother to write such an overly critical book about a band he/she clearly does not like (apart from the early stuff). One track will remind some readers of the Smiths we are told, another uses a similar keyboard sound to Genesis! This is garbage. Each to his own opinion but, having loved all incarnations of FM, a lot of this book misses the point. Omnibus should be ashamed for including this in their usually excellent series.

Completely Biased,
By Jess (NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fleetwood Mac (Complete Guides to the Music of) (Paperback)
The author takes the time to bash a good percentage of Fleetwood Mac songs, including Gypsy "a track that seems to wilt rather than conclude", Hold Me(their #4 hit) "an average FM performance {that} never really catches fire", several of Lindsey's Tusk songs "expendable" and "throw-away", and he definitely shows a preference for the Peter Green era. Good for PG era fans, fans of later eras---stay away.

OPINIONS about fleetwood mac tunes...(read my review),
This review is from: Fleetwood Mac (Complete Guides to the Music of) (Paperback)
most reviewers do not seem to like this book but,i think it has some redeeming qualities.
this author, rikky rooksby has reviewed all of fleetwood mac's songs from 1968 to 1997 in this( 1998 edition) of this book. he reviews each album/song,listing: title, song writer, and his literal description/interpretation of what HE THINKS OF THE SONG. some songs he really likes, some he did not and this IS the author's point of view.i am not going to knock him down for it. each album cover is shown and a commentary explaining something about the album: what was going on at that time, who left, who joined, and, some trivia tidbits(for example, the artwork on "kiln house" was by christine mcvie). the photos are good ones, mostly black and white with some color ones in the middle section of the book. many of these photos i have not seen. i liked this book and read it as another person's point of view on fleetwood mac songs, not necessarily an expert's or fan's opinion but,an opinion never the less and isn't this what freedom of speech is? the right for all of us to voice our views on something? KEEP ON ROCKIN!

Good little book if you follow the music of Fleetwood Mac and are as big of a fan as I am. Easy to read and has some good photos of the band that haven't been seen before.
