Flensted Mobiles are a traditional handicraft in Denmark. The first modern designer mobile was made there in 1954. Today Flensted Mobiles is based on the Danish island of Funen, the birthplace of Hans Christian Anderson, where it creates its very own design fairy tales from the old village school in Brenderup. Inspired by Trapholt Art museum, Flensted Mobiles have created a new classic mobile, Flying Chairs, that is in keeping with Danish Design's proud traditions of creating unique chairs. With Flying Chairs, Ole Flensted extends a greeting to Arne Jacobsen, Borge Mogensen, Finn Juhl, Poul Kjaerholm and others of the great chair makers in Danish furniture design. Though Flying Chairs is not for sitting, it is very comfortable to sit and observe it while letting your mind drift.
