5.0 out of 5 stars One the most incredible, heartfelt albums I,ve ever heard., May 7, 2002
Most people probably remember him for his 80s hits 'Don't Mean Nothing''Right Here Waiting'.

Unfortunately his commercial stock fell in the 90s after the 1989 masterpiece Repeat Offender. Repeat Offender had a angsty but fun sound.

The 1991 follow-up Rush Street was an excellent follow-up with the soulfull 'Keep Coming Back' with Luther Vandross and the beautiful 'Chains Around My Heart. The next album 1993s Paid Vacation was a dissapointment to me.

Four years go by and in 1997 Marx resurfaced with what I consider his strongest, most consistent album to date and what I consider one of the best albums of 1997. This album is nothing like the angstyness of his first two albums and is much more rich and heartfelt than it's predecessor. Richard has never sounded better.

The best tracks on this CD are Fools Game, Can't Lie To My Heart, My Confession, Eternity and Miracle.

Fools Game is brooding and haunting with a dark ominous atmosphere and old school beats. This song is almost opposite to Don't Mean Nothing. It's very cloudy and almost stormy. You Never Take Me Dancing has a much rockier feel with snappy beats that orph into more regular drums. Touch Of Heaven is funky and is one of the best songs on this album. It could have made a good impact on the chart. What's Your Story is more bluesy and fun. Can't Lie To My Heart is the best of R&B. It is very jazzy, moody, and is one of the best songs on this CD. Until I find You Again is the companion song to Right Here Waiting only this song is more powerful. My Confession is the best song Marx has ever written. Richard Marx pours out his feelings on this song with a melancholy feel. Eternity has a feel very much like Confession with moody lyrics and dark melody. What's Wrong With That is a very upbeat song that sounds more like some of his late 80s early 90s rock recordings. The Image also could have fit onto some of his early 90s material. Breathless is radiant with a jazzy soulful sound similar to 'Keep Coming Back'. Miracle is a beautiful closer to this amazing masterpiece. It's very optimistic and very upbeat.

In fact I love this entire CD.

What a great shame that this well crafted album feel quickly off the charts. I don't know why such banal acts like Desinys Child, P. Diddy and Foxy Brown while talented singers like Seal, Richard Marx, and Phil Collins are hardly gtting any notice these days. It's all just a joke!

Anyone who truly appreciates REAL music must buy this album. It offers so much more from the first 30 seconds of Fools Game than all of P. Diddys albums combined.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coming of age, May 13, 2003
By A Customer
Flesh and bone is one of the best musical works in its genres to ever be produced. The Richard Marx everybody knows about...one can say, has 'come of age' so to speak. this album has some really amazing numbers, my personal favourites being My Confession, Can't lie to my heart and Touch of heaven. Until i find you again is like an anthem for the broken hearted..with every word making more sense as the song progresses. Outstanding work by the genius Marx. Its true that all his works though not getting as much fame and recognition as they deserve...he is, i can safely say...one of the best musicians of all time, and Flesh and Bone is probably the best overall album that he has and probably ever will give to us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Richard Marx: Flesh & Bone (1997), February 24, 2005
By Chad DeFeo "(ChandlerBingFan)" (Philadelphia, PA USA) - See all my reviews
In 1997, three years after the release of Paid Vacation, Richard Marx released his fifth album entitled, FLESH & BONE. Sort of a weird title for an album, but in the same manner, I like the album title. It has a certain ring to it that fits the album. Don't know what it is. Anyway, this album has a lot of potential and it is another one of my favorite albums, behind Repeat Offender and Rush Street.

FOOL'S GAME
Not bad. It could have been better.

YOU NEVER TAKE ME DANCING
I would have liked to have a little more music to backup Richard's vocals, but the song is amazing, and it is one of my favorites on the album.

TOUCH OF HEAVEN
The second & final single from the album. This song is not all that bad, but I wished it was done differently than what is heard on this album. But not a bad song.

WHAT'S YOUR STORY
This song, for some strangely odd reason, reminds of me of that song from New Kids On The Block: Hangin' Tough. I think that reason is probably why I enjoy hearing this song. Great song.

CAN'T LIE TO MY HEART
This song is really amazing. I don't know why. It just is. I really do enjoy hearing this song.

UNTIL I FIND YOU AGAIN
The first single from the album. By the release of this album, Richard Marx had been recording and performing his music for ten years. This song sounds so much like the material from the first album, mainly Hold On To The Nights. That is why I favor this song with a lot of pride.

MY CONFESSION
This may sound like a song that a younger pop artist would do, but Richard Marx took the liberty of sing a song that sounds like a song that would have been done by a future young pop star, and he sings this song extremely well. I don't think any other male performer would have been able to pull this song off as well as Richard did.

ETERNITY
The beat and mood to this song is amazing. Richard's voice is just outstanding. He just continues to reel off the great tunes. He really knows what we fans enjoy hearing.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT
The music could have been a little better than this, but Richard's voice needs no improvement because his voice on this song, just like many of his other songs, is perfectly outstanding in every way. He really has a true and great powerful voice.

IMAGE
The title struck me when I first read the tracklist. But when I heard this song, I was more than impressed; I was stunned. Why? Because Richard is one of the few artists, who can make the song live up to its title, where the listener is impressed all the way around.

BREATHLESS
This is another heartfelt ballad that deserved to be put out as a single. It is real smooth and relaxingly beautiful. This is one song that I refuse to not listen to. And I advise that everyone listen to this beautiful song.

MIRACLE
Now, when I read this title, I already related to it because I am longing for a miracle to happen. I am hoping that I will be getting a job in my field of AutoCAD. I am hoping that I will find the one girl that I am meant to be with. Those two things are miracles to me. When I heard this song, it gave more reason to hope that those two miracles will come true. This is one hell of an inspirational song. This song will inspire you to really hope and pray that a miracle will work out for the best of each and everyone of us.

This album is definitely more than on the money and each of you Richard Marx fans should have a copy. If not, then here's your chance. If I were you, I'd buy a copy now before it's too late.
