At the same time, he’s supposed to be covering (or maybe uncovering) a health spa that caters to all its clients needs, and gets hired as a very personal trainer. Never mind that he’s supposed to be getting married at the end of the week; Fletch has a few other engagements to take care of first.

His chance comes when Donald Habek, a wealthy lawyer, is shot dead. Fletch competes with Biff Wilson, the crime reporter, to investigate the murder, and this leads to interviews of many oddball characters in various strange situations. This duo represent the 1981 and 1985 installments, respectively, in the author's ongoing Fletch series, which now includes nine novels. The former finds reporter/ investigator Fletch in trouble with his editor after quoting a business mogul who apparently is dead, but if he has shuffled off his mortal coil, who then is signing his name to rather large checks? In the latter volume, Fletch investigates the very complete services provided to clients at a luxurious spa. The murder of a millionaire he is supposed to interview turns his attentions elsewhere. But are the two connected?

This book is sort of a prequel to Fletch. In this book, Fletch tries his first case as an investigative reporter. This book is a great mystery novel.

I don't like it when reviewers reveal plot points, so I won't. Suffice to say, if you like other Fletch books, you will like Fletch Won. If you haven't read any Fletch books, you might want to start with Fletch, which was adapted into a funny movie starring Chevy Chase.

Fletch is a good change of pace from most sleuths. He's a learn as you go amateur who is very funny. This one features a scary violence-is-beautiful poet and the inside scoop on an upscale escort business. Easy, fun reading.
