Innovative and Original!,

I had never heard the music of Franco Battiato before this CD--what a revelation! It's a tremendous ALBUM, songs seamlessly woven together as an artistic concept, not just a miscellaneous collection of tunes. I haven't heard such an internally cohesive pop album since Roxy Music's "Avalon" album. This is a great record for those who want something more satisfying than techno-pop or generic electronic music. It's a blend of a string quartet, piano, and synthesizers with Battiato's voice and chorus. Very soothing and enormously satisfying!

cover riarrangiate,
This review is from: Fleurs (Audio CD)
Battiato, con questo album, ripropone alcuni successi del passato ed anche una canzone tratta dal folklore italiano (Era de' Maggio)dandogli un nuovo arrangiamento ricco di suggestioni classicheggianti. Questo album è stato eseguito dal vivo per il PApa.Battiato, with this album, pruposes some old great hits and also an italian folk song (Era de' Maggio)rearranged with a rich classical inspiration. This album was performed live for the Pope. *excuse me for my broken english*

A nice CD with well-known songs,

The most interesting italian songwriter facing here with some '60 tracks, featuring De Andre' compositions too. Battiato is applying here the results of his long-standing studies and research. Songs like classical 'lied', including an amazing version of R.Stones 'Ruby Tuesday'. Please check also Battiato's 'Come un cammello in una grondaia' to find similar tunes.
