5.0 out of 5 stars Long Lasting Battery
This light just keeps shining and shining. I got it over 3 months ago and I read about ~30min each night. It stays firmly attached to my book and I can point it directly at the pages so my wife can sleep soundly next to me without being disturbed! I am very impressed with the battery life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great light - very bright., September 12, 2009

Very bright! Nice flexibility in neck - not too loose, not too stiff. Nice option to go with the clip or plug in to USB. I bought 5 of these, 2 were defective - that is the reason for 4 stars. Good product, but quality may be an issue.

Amazon handled defective units quickly and for free, that should boost confidence.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it!, February 26, 2009

I've been using my old Kensington flylight but decided to try this new light out becasue of the dual use. I have to say the light spread is very good. The bulbs face down on the keyboard not in your eye and when I'm done on my computer I can plug it into the clip and read my book in bed. FANTASTIC!. Smart idea.

This is a good book/keyboard light. I tried others that were too flexible and would not hold position. This one is bright enough to read in a Starbucks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Books, Great for Keyboards, February 1, 2010
This review is from: USB Flex Neck Reading Light (Soft Touch Black) (Kitchen)
I have been using this USB Flexneck for several months now and its fantastic. It's almost identical to the regular Flexneck reading light, but this flexible neck and light can be detached from the clip section and plugged directly into the USB port on my laptop to illuminate my keyboard or the paperwork next to the computer.

Like the other Flexneck lights, When not in use the light head can be swiveled around and clamped into the hole in the clip, which makes it compact and capable of being attached onto my bag if looped through an opening before clamping the light to itself. The hole in the clip allows you to operate the light even when its clipped to itself so you can use it as a utility light

The light has two bright-white LED's and a nice soft rubbery coating to the clip itself. I find the clip does a good job of staying where placed and will hold back a good number of pages in a book, up to about 3/4 inch worth of pages.

The light uses two CR2032 batteries, the same as my garage door opener. The batteries are easy enough to find at my local storeas they are pretty common, they are usually next to the hearing aid batteries or camera batteries. The batteries are stored in the clip itself and the battery cover pops off by using the edge of a quarter to twist the cover off.

My entire family LOVES the Flex Neck Reading lights. My kids use them at night and love their sports themed lights. They are so easy to use and incredibly ligth weight. This latest USB Flex Neck Reading Light is a continuation of their wonderful ideas. I can work on my lap top in bed while my husband is sleeping! I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the USB Flex Neck, January 19, 2010
This review is from: USB Flex Neck Reading Light (Soft Touch Black) (Kitchen)
I just got my first USB Flex Neck. I've been a big fan of the Flex Neck (without the USB feature) for a long time. The clip doesn't slip or twist when placed on a book and the head stores neatly into the clip so it doesn't get hung up on things in my bag. I use it as a book light and a utility light. Very handy! The USB Flex Neck allows the option of using the battery powered clip (just like my other Flex Neck) or unplugging the neck portion from the clip and plugging the light directly into my USB connection on my laptop (which then provides the power) so I can see my keyboard without turning on an overhead light. It lights the keyboard up perfectly. Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars LightWedge USB powered LED Lights for laptop with batteries, September 7, 2011

LightWedge USB powered lights for laptop with an on/off switch and batteries - a clip for stand alone use. This product pretty much has it all.

I bought three of these little USB lights this time. The light is not overly bright; it is enough to light up the keyboard (external or the one onboard the laptop) in a dark room. There is also enough light to illuminate the immediate desk area, should one need to read notes or desire to put pen to paper in this age of digital access.

IMO, this is the best of the simlilar products of this type:
-- The clip allows the little light to be removed from the USB port attached to the clip and used stand-alone (there are batteries in the clip).
-- The on/off switch means one can turn the light off when desired without unplugging it from the port! This is an important feature - buy a USB light without an on/off switch and then remember this comment. Smiling.
-- The product is sturdy; my existing LightWedge USB light has survived being dropped (and lightly stepped on), cat-carried, squished in a laptop bag, and worse.

I have the lights connected to laptops running Windows 7 on USB 2.0 ports. They are not fussy - they also run on USB 3 ports.

If there are any "cons" at all, it might be that the Windows OS fails to recognize the lights: When the light is occasionally bumped (my own fault)and it must be pushed back into place (plugged in fully), a message comes up on the screen to the effect "We don't recognize this device, Bla, Bla, Bla". Doesn't keep it from working - just noisy Windows bits complaining.

The flexible metal neck is about eight inches in length, it is flexible thoughout.

Excellent product. I fully reccommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this overpriced piece of garbage, November 7, 2010

One of the things I enjoy doing when I go to bed at night is to read myself to sleep. As my wife finds it difficult to go to sleep while my bedside lamp is on, she decided to get me a reading light as a gift. Though it took a little getting used to, I soon found that it met both of our needs nicely, giving me plenty of light to read yet not so much as to make it difficult for her to sleep.

Then the battery died and my troubles began.

I first noticed that the batteries was dying when the output of the light fell. Finding replacement batteries after the original ones died out was easy, but replacing them was not; the battery cover on the base is a little challenging to remove and easily damaged in the process. This soon became a major problem, as when I replaced the batteries, the new ones no longer sat properly in the compartment, which is necessary to produce a strong steady light. Instead, I had an intermittent light that flickered off whenever I shifted it slightly, making it useless as a reading light

Having thought I had learned from my mistakes with my initial effort to replace the batteries, I went out and purchased a replacement unit, same brand and model. Again, it gave excellent service for as long as the original batteries lasted, but despite being more careful about opening the battery compartment again I had problems after replacing them, with the light shut off with the slightest movement. I have since given up and gone back to using my bedside lamp.

In short, this is an item that it not worth the relatively expensive price you pay to buy it. It is true that the detachable neck-and-LED unit is a nice touch, but over time it can also contribute to the problems with getting a steady reading light from the lamp as a whole. So unless you are prepared to spend another twenty bucks to get a new unit every time the $3 batteries in the base are expended, I would recommend trying a less expensive reading light. I only wish I had after the first time.

A very well made light.Pretty cool how it uses the laptop to power it.It also has CR2032 batteries when not plugged in.Small and compact and the lighting is perfect for reading books and working on the laptop.Very pleased so far with it.Wouldn't it be cool if the batteries were rechargables and could charge right from a PC or the laptop.....
