Indications
Designed to provide relief from an a reducible inguinal/groin hernia

Directions
The legstrap is adjusted by opening the Velcro lined "pocket" located at waistband; then a "pull" upward and/or sideways will bring legstrap into proper position. For maximum comfort be sure legstraps follow the gluteal crease at the base of the cheek. For proper hernia containment, postion foam rubber pad in Velcro pocket. Check all areas to be sure fastenings are secure - waistband closure, perineal legstrap and truss pad. Initial adjustment on garment is usually adequate for use thereafter.

I ordered this truss on the basis of several comments as well as other discussions on the Internet about such items. Previous reviews were close to my own experience and I'd have to say I'm generally pleased with the product. I was looking for a temporary solution until I can figure out whether to have the hernia surgically repaired and if so by whom. I'm very leery of hospitals in general and surgeons in particular since thousands of people die each year as a result of "complications" from what should have been routine surgery (the surgery was a success but the patient died -- did you every hear of that?!!).

My primary care physician advised to do some watchful waiting to see if it got worse or could be contained/supported with an external truss. So far, the truss wins by a small margin and the rupture has not gotten noticably worse. The truss is comfortable to wear all day but it is very important to get it property positioned directly over the break, but once that is done, it provides good support with no discomfort. I'll order another soon so that one can be run through the wash while wearing the other. The best feature is that it provides me the time to sort through the various repair options and find a surgeon who is highly experienced with such procedures and has a good track record of success and no "complications."

As my first truss, I did not really know what to expect. I suppose I still don't, but it has comfortably solved most (90%) of the minor popping out issues I have experienced over the last 2 months.

I like it"s adjustability. I am a tall thin frame person, with a bluejeans size 35" waist, and the medium size fit me fine.

I have replaced the removable pad in this truss, with several other pads, including a hard plastic piece with rounded edges, a polyurethane foam piece I shaped myself, and a bean bag hackeysack. All seemed to have some benefit, but none was perfect for every situation or body stress position. I am still looking for the perfect pad to slip in to the nicely made pocket in this truss.

Do I recommend this item? Yes! ..... I will be ordering another one soon, but I also wonder if there are more expensive ones with metal support designs that would be somewhat more effective in controling the herniation all the time, but I suspect they may not be as comfortable as this one is in most situations.

Congratulations to Alpha Medical L.L.C. for getting it right!! I had ordered Hernia Trusses from 2 other Companies, their products were OK but not great!! I then order the Inguinal/Groin Hernia Truss and am very pleased that I did so and here is why!! From the other 2 Companies the inserts that press against the hernia area was a flat piece of soft material, it did the job somewhat!!! To my surprise and delight the insert that presses against the hernia area in the Inguinal/Groin Hernia Truss is contoured to fit your body, it is not flat, it is oval or kind of egg shaped and it fits snuggly into the hernia area which gives you the most comfort possible!!! Also, when I ordered my second Truss from Alpha Medical I was given a 15% discount!! Bob H - Sarasota, Fl.

I like this truss a lot. It has an adjustable pad and all velcro adjustments. No metal for the airport. It works well to keep my hernia in and I like it for riding my bike and other activities. I would say it offers very good support, however, the pad is not especially large. If you feel you need extra support, you may want to consider the Lumiscope Golden Crown trusses. There are some other brand names that are similar with the 2 snaps in the front. They have a large pad and you can cinch them tightly. I put that one on if I'm doing something especially strenuous but they do have metal.

All the internet advice, says get surgery now.
But many people have reasons that they must delay,
such as other medical issues, insurance waiting periods,
money or other obligations.

This support allows you to continue reasonable activities,
and protects the hernia from getting worse.
Get one at the first sign of a hernia,
so you can schedule and plan your surgery on your own terms.

Size medium was nice and snug for my 33-34 waist.
I wear a pair of nylon bicycle type shorts underneath for comfort.
HIghly recommended because it works.

First, the company customer service is really really good. I was doing fine without a truss for 6 months and then all of a sudden the hernia went from size of a quarter coin to a golf ball. I was heading out of town for 2 weeks and called the company and they helped ensure the package did get to me on time (in the middle of a north easter storm). So to truss or not. I can say that this product made all the difference for me. Without it, the intestines were shifting during the day and making me uncomfortable. With the product, I was confident I could make it through the business day without the uncomfortable feeling of my intestines shifting suddenly or getting into a situation were I felt they were binding. Great product. I am now through my surgery and if it wasn't for the truss, I wouldn't have made it the extra few months and been able to leverage the medical deduction account for this year.
