5.0 out of 5 stars Worked great for me
I haven't used this as a "regular" webcam, so I can't comment on how well it works that way.

I bought it because we have a critter living in a hole in our front yard, and I wanted to find out what it was. I'd been looking at those cameras (from power tool manufacturers) that are designed to stick through a hole in the wall to find hidden wires, pipes, etc...

3.0 out of 5 stars For the price it's worth it
I needed an IR cam for critter watching. It fills the bill quite well, when I got it to work that is. It works on WinXP and intermittently on Vista. On Win7 Home Premium it never did work, but on Win7 Basic on my netbook it works perfectly. The colors are off a bit in normal room lighting, but in a darkened room the IR really works well. I haven't used this as a "regular" webcam, so I can't comment on how well it works that way.

I bought it because we have a critter living in a hole in our front yard, and I wanted to find out what it was. I'd been looking at those cameras (from power tool manufacturers) that are designed to stick through a hole in the wall to find hidden wires, pipes, etc. They seem cool, but they cost $150-$500. So when I saw a webcam at the end of a flexible cable with both infrared and visible light sources built in, all for under $15, I couldn't resist.

For my purpose, it worked fabulously well.

- I attached it to my laptop (inside the house) via a 15 foot USB extension cable
- I attached the camera cable to a piece of wood on top of the hole, and snaked the camera down into position.
- I ran screen recording software on the laptop.

The infrared lights provided plenty of illumination, and the focus on the camera is very easy to adjust. I ended up with crystal clear video of our "tenants." And because it cost so little, I didn't even worry about leaving it out in the rain.

Very cool for the price. I expect to find a lot of other uses for it.

It takes up to a minute for it to transition to IR, but when it does the picture quality is good. It sees across a 10x12 foot completely dark room with no problems. Due to the issues of getting it to work and the inaccurate color in normal lighting, it's only 'ok'. If you want IR exclusively, it's a big thumbs up.

I really like the design of this camera. It's very "flexible" and adaptable. But the camera doesn't actually work for me because it's too old and there aren't recent drivers for it that I can find.

Plain and simple, this web cam sucks. I cannot understand the purpose of the LEDs because they don't provide enough light to see anything in the dark. The picture is grainy...very grainy. To it's credit, I will say that the camera and software are easy to use. If you need an emergency webcam....EMERGENCY.....this is a good product. However, if you can do better, take your time and find a quality product.

I now use this product as a night light.

I was really excited about this camera- but it didn't work at all- AND the software that came with it brought up a warning that installing it could seriously damage my computer!! Said it was incompatable?? My computer is a Dell - running Windows XP

2.0 out of 5 stars Good looks, poor performance, December 10, 2010

This review is from: Mini Flexible USB WebCam with Infrared Night Vision and Built-in 7 LED lights Microphone and Snap Shot Button (Personal Computers)
The camera scores high on its looks and flex cable design, but falls short on performance. I tested the camera at night with plenty of indoor lighting positioned in front and behind me. Unfortunately, the camera was unable to produce an image with the LEDs off and produced an almost monochrome image with the LEDs on. After several minutes in the face tracking mode, I turned this feature off. Afterward the image it displayed appeared fuzzy at a normal operating distance and only those items that were within several inches of the lens were in focus. If you decide to purchase this camera despite the negative reviews, please do not forget to also purchase a USB extension cable - the cable that is part of the camera is probably too short for most applications.

I really like this product, have it for over six months now. My issue is not so much the product but the description of it. I regularly reformat my computer, so it is always a pain to re-install certain software and devices. In this instance, I was having some trouble locating the disc that came with the webcam (recently moved). As a last resort, I decided to look up the driver based on the description. I installed said driver, but my computer was unable to find the driver for the webcam. This led me to believe that the description was inaccurate. When I finally located the disc and installed the driver, it was for PC VGA Camer@ and not Q-CAM.

Never could get it to work with my lap top. Plus it top heavy. And when it was working the picture quality would scare the person on the other end. It is in black white. I have blond hair. It turned it white. Ugh. Would not recommend this product to anyone.
