5.0 out of 5 stars Great for covering a decent-sized area.
Soaker hoses are nice for a foundation but they don't water very well. They have a relatively low flow-rate which means that the water gets absorbed into the ground before it can really spread out. So you wind up with a 1 foot path that is really well watered and bone-dry next to it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kind of works
This hose has two major problems with it.

1.) It's narrow, so, on grass, it doesn't necessarily sit flat. Therefore, when you turn it on, the water may spray in a direction you hadn't planned on.

2.) The water sprays out much more strongly at the end of the hose closer to the tap.

I've been trying out various sprinkling systems,...

Soaker hoses are nice for a foundation but they don't water very well. They have a relatively low flow-rate which means that the water gets absorbed into the ground before it can really spread out. So you wind up with a 1 foot path that is really well watered and bone-dry next to it.

These hoses have small holes ever few inches that will cause tiny streams of water to shoot out, similar to what you get when you squirt a water-gun. There is very little misting-action that occurs even with good water pressure, even when the squirts reach about 5 feet into the air. Hence, cranking up water pressure to try to cause it to mist will just make the squirts bigger and thus water much further out.

I have a tiered garden about 25 feet long and 10 feet wide on top and ran this hose back and forth to make 2 watering rows. I did the same for my bottom section and connected them with a Y-connector.

By turning on the water 1/3rd pressure so the squirts were about 1 to 2 feet high, I let it water for an hour.

The entire garden was very well watered with extremely even coverage. I was actually surprised because I thought that I'd have tons of 'spots' where each stream watered an area. But this was not the case because the droplets are small enough that wind blows them around and the droplets scatter fairly well to cover a small area on their own.

Furthermore, I'd guess this system is about 80% more efficient than my old system of using a oscillating sprinkler (the back and forth, spray water in the air system).

With the sprinkler, after an hour on high, a ton of water would be blown away or vaporized and caught by the wind. Garden was watered but it was spotty.

These hoses though give me much more even coverage, much more water onto the garden, at about 1/3rd the water flow!

The bottom line is that I am very pleased with these hoses. They are very good for a garden where you have a lot of different stuff planted and not a whole lot of order. In a well-done garden, they use irrigation so that each plant has an individual nozzle where it gets drip-fed straight to the roots. However, this requires a decent amount of work and pretty precise placement of plants. As enthusiasts, we are still trying out different plants and are not near ready for a drip-irrigation yet.
Hence, this hose is a perfect way to easily get good coverage for our garden.

4.0 out of 5 stars good quality, June 7, 2009

Several of these have already lasted a full summer for me, and don't have the problems some of the cheaper ones have. The holes haven't expanded in size so they still distribute the water evenly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sprinkling Hose, August 5, 2009

This is a great sprinkling hose!! It is made of heavy duty hose material with three tubes. Good water pressure is very helpful with any hose and this is no exception. You get a good flow of water from each of the three tubes and you can use it upside down if you wish. We have had one for four years and have recently found we needed an additional hose. It was back to Flexon.

Quality material and long life. Before winter drain it and place it a basement or, if possible, in a warm area. You will not be disappointed.

Easy to handle and roll-up since it is lightweight. In our warm weather in Texas, the hose is fairly compliant in medium-arge curves; after the water is on I may need to adjust some 1-2 areas with a rock/brick to keep the configuration. Sure beats paying thousands for a sprinkler system. NO leaks on mine. Am ordering 2 more. Do use with an regular/extender hose as the holes run the entire length.

This hose is terrific - exactly what I've been looking for. It seems to be of good quality that will last longer than a couple uses as opposed to what I can find in our local stores. It waters in a pretty wide swath and does a much better job than my oscillating sprinkler. I bought two and plan to get two more.

1.0 out of 5 stars Failure x3, September 24, 2010

This review is from: Flexon 50-Foot Three Tube Sprinkler Hose FS50 (Lawn & Patio)
What a disappointment. I bought two hoses. The first leaked badly at the hose/brass junction at the far end (male). The second hose had the slits for the sprinkling cut into the hose on the side of one of the tubes instead of on the top white strip such that most of the water shot out sideways. I ordered replacements from Amazon; only got one replacement. The third hose also leaked badly, this time at the female end but also at the hose/brass junction. So three hoses, all with manufacturing defects. Time for Flexon to do a little bit of QC!

Amazon has been good about replacements but I'm giving up and getting a refund. Just not worth my time to do quality checks for the manufacturer.

This is the first sprinkler hose that I have tried so I didn't know what to expect. The hose has 3 connected tubes and lies flat on the ground. I have some narrow places in the yard that have been hard to water except by hand. This hose is great! I first turned the water on full blast as I am used to soaker hoses that don't put out much water. This hose was literally shooting streams 3-5 feet into the air. After I got the water volume adjusted, the hose watered a strip well in about an hour, great. As this hose lies flat on the ground, it doesn't make sharp turns; however, it can do gentle turns with no problem. If you turn it over, it is supposed to function as a soaker hose. I have not tried that.

I've been trying out various sprinkling systems, and I think I'm going to keep trying other methods. I don't like this one as much as having several small sprinklers connected by a hose.

The hose does seem of good quality and make.

I couldn't find sprinkler hoses like these at local big box and home improvement stores, only soaker hoses. These hoses emit streams of water, as opposed to dripping, which is exactly what I was looking for. They arrived quickly and in good condition. I am ordering four more!
