The record they always wanted to record....,

And it's the best one they ever recorded. Gone are the college radio intimations and all that's left are the basic directions of the band: Tom's vocals, the very inspired and unpolished song structures, the just-there instrumentation. What's amazing to me is how much, after nearly eight years, the lyrics still are striking. Amazing work. This is a great record by a band that never got discovered. You should listen just to hear great rock that never got widespread.

Engine 88's last album,

This album was Engine 88's swan song. If you're not already a fan, I'd recommend starting with Clean Your Room and then getting Snowman before moving on to this album. That said if you're a fan of the band then you'll find some wonderful tracks to discover here. Some of my favorites are 'Breakdown', 'Fire', 'Fragment' and the quirky cover of Eric Clapton's 'Lay Lady Lay'.
