More About the Author

L.W. Lewis, a Cleveland, Ohio native, holds a BS in Zoology form the University of Miami (Fla) and an MBA from Oklahoma City University. He was a navigator (EW) on B-52's during Viet Nam where he flew 69 missions. Later he became a pilot and flew with the famous Flying Tigers. He was an advisor to an the 172nd Light Infantry Brigade (Army) in Alaska and made over 200 parachute jumps. L.W. Lewis had his first children's poetry book published in 2003 titled Why Do Flies Eat Doggie Poop. This success encouraged him to follow up with Poodles, Tigers, Monsters & You in 2005 and the award-winning book The Tickle Tree published in 2007. His latest book, Poop, Butt, Booger and Snot was the hands-down favorite title chosen by children who voted during Mr. Lewis' school book tour of 2009. Mr. Lewis and his wife Cheryl Coco Lewis produced audio-books to complement his first three books which greatly enhance the child's reading and understanding of the poems. In addition to being a very funny poet, L.W. Lewis has written two stage plays. The first play titled For The Love of Wanda will be produced in February 2011. Mr. Lewis travels throughout the United States to bring his books to schools where both children and adults enjoy his hysterical humor during these author visits.
He hopes to encourage reading through humorous poetry and does school visits for free.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Why Do Flies Eat Doggy Poop? and Other Poems (Hardcover)
I really like this book.It is fun to read, and my friends like it to. My favorite poem is the one about "Barbee".
Tierra

My niece is 10 years old and in a special education class because of a dyslexic learning diability. I had worked with her all summer trying to spark an interest in reading. When we discovered the book, "Why Do Flys eat doggy poop?", she fell in love. Reciting the poems and enjoying their comical content has really sparked an interest in her to read. The poems are easy to read and because she can read them I have seen a boost in her self esteem. She has demanded that I put up a shelf in her room just to display her special book.
Thanks Mr. Lewis

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy a lesson and laugh with your kids, October 31, 2001

How to feel like a kid again? Read a story from Why Do Flies Eat Doggy Poop, by Leonard Lewis. I get a chuckle out of just saying the name!

I pulled the book from the shelf and shared it with my three year old nephew who kept saying, read one more...pleeeaaasse. A co-worker's son reads a story every night to his little sister.

I enjoy the book thoroughly and recommend it highly to anyone for a gift, just because or even a learning tool for a classroom.

5.0 out of 5 stars why do flys eat doggy poop?, July 8, 2003
This review is from: Why Do Flies Eat Doggy Poop? and Other Poems (Hardcover)
I recently recieved this charming book as a gift from a special friend for my children. Our usual evening ritual is for my husband to (very begrudgingly) read to our children before bed. My son wanted to here some of the poems in this book. After the first one, through snickers and belly laughs, they read together for almost an entire hour. At my promting is was time for bed with the promise to read the rest tomorrow. I whole- heartedly enjoyed watching and listening to a very well put together assortment of childrens poems. My son (almost 6)thought they were hilarious. My husband thought they were hysterical and my two year old just laughed because everyone else was. Overall I really enjoyed that first night with our new favorite book and have since recommended it to all of my friends with chidren. THANK YOU- AGAIN!!! Mr. Lewis @214
