Over-the-Top Christian Emphasis,

This review is from: Lord of the Flies Study Guide (Paperback)
I was looking for something to use to help me teach Lord of the Flies in public school. This material can not be used by anyone who teaches in public schools because of the separation of Church and State in this country. I realize I should have seen the word "scripture" in the description, but that doesn't begin to describe the deep end fanatacism of these materials. To lead into the book's synopsis there are quotes from Jeremiah and Ecclesiastes! As one of the pre-reading activities, they suggest doing research on sin or original sin and telling students to ask their preacher or church elder for guidance! The biblical references are so pervasive that there are few reproducible pages.
The description should include that one author teaches at Oral Roberts University and the other has homeschooled his seven children. That alone would give a teacher pause. Furthermore, the "guide" is a packet of photo-copied paper that comes with it's own folder for you to use to bind the papers together. The copying can NOT have cost this much ($11.95?) for something that is barely 50 pages. Give a teacher a break!

I used this for my homeschooled daughter when she was in 9th grade. It expands vocabulary, spelling knowledge as well as reading and comprehension. I would recommend this to family and friends.

Nice Christian Perspective,

This review is from: Lord of the Flies Study Guide (Paperback)
This is a wonderful example of the fallen nature of man. My daughter is reading this in school and I am glad to be able to provide her with a Christian perspective of this book. It is a shame the teacher is not able to discuss the Christian Worldview, but I can teach it to my daughter and she is able to use it in her analysis and in the class discussions.
As far as the quality of the copies, that is not what I am paying for. it is the time it took for someone to put together the information. As a single working mom, I don't have the time and this is a great resource.

Excellent Christian study guide,

This review is from: Lord of the Flies Study Guide (Paperback)
Excellent, easy to use study guide for Lord of the Flies. Good thought provoking questions with lots of optional project and writing ideas. My only complaint would be that the "work-book" sections ran together instead of starting on a fresh page. This made it difficult to assign a particular section. Overall, though, a great help!
