1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money
I ordered all of the books available for flight attendant interviews. This one was the worst. I don't recommend it based on the content as it just wasn't as helpful or nearly as informative as others. Out of all of those I ordered, I'd recommend The Essential Guide To Becoming A Flight Attendant. It contained every question I was asked in my interview and a lot more...

5.0 out of 5 stars Flight Attendant Job Finder & Career Guide, January 21, 2001
I stumbled across this excellent book written by Tim Kirkwood while I was trying to find information on how to improve my chances on becoming a Flight Attendant. I ordered the book online and received it the next day. I read this book from cover to cover three times. It was a great source of information and it reads very easy. I also emailed Tim and he was very helpful. After reading his book I sent a resume to an airline and received back an application. I completed the application, sent it back to the airlines, and within a few days I received a call from them wanting me to come in for an interview. When I arrived for the interview, there were many other applicants present. I was able to shine during that group interview because of Tim Kirkwood's book. After the group interview they selected of few of us for a one-on-one interview. About half way through the interview she stoped me and said, "You know what? You are exactly what we are looking for at this airline". I was hired on the spot and was sent for training three weeks later. Thank you Tim Kirkwood!

5.0 out of 5 stars By far the best book on flight attendants I've ever seen., November 5, 1999
By A Customer
The first of what we can now call flight attendants were hired in 1926 by Stout Airlines for it's Detroit to Grand Rapids route. From that modest beginning, the occupation has evolved thanks to increased passenger traffic, worldwide routes, larger and more complex planes, greater services, and the influence of labor unions. This book is truly a "Bible" of the field, providing everything from the history of the occupation to details on hiring and employment practices. It lists contact and employment information for approximately 100 US and Canadian carriers. By far the best book on flight attendants I've ever seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars A concise, skillfully presented compendium, December 13, 2003
This review is from: Flight Attendant Job Finder & Career Guide (Paperback)
Flight Attendant Job Finder & Career Guide by 27-year TWA veteran flight attendant Tim Kirkwood is an authoritative and straightforward manual to pursuing a flight attendant career. Included is reliable information regarding the physical and educational requirements; surviving the interview process; seeking jobs on lesser-known regional airlines, charters and corporate flights (which have increased hiring even as the big airlines have made staff cutbacks since the September 11th attacks); a directory of application requirements for all the U.S. and Canadian airlines today, and more. A concise, skillfully presented compendium Flight Attendant Job Finder & Career Guide is a "must-read" for anyone interested in the rewards and opportunities of becoming a professional flight attendant.

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential, time saving tool., June 2, 1999
By A Customer
It would take weeks or months to gather the information avaliable in this book. Going after the flight attendant job without a guide is like trying to find a phone number without a phone book. If you're interested in increasing your chances of hiring on with a U.S. airline, this book will save you many headaches and tons of time. Recommended.

The Flight Attendant Job Finder and Career Guide, by Tim Kirkwood, is by far the best source for career information on the in-flight service profession. Drawing on his 23 years as a flight attendant, Tim Kirkwood accurately describes every aspect of in-flight service, including what to expect on a typical three-day trip. The Guide also features a directory of all US and Canadian airlines, complete with job requirements and contact information for each company. A must-read for those aspiring to become flight attendants! --Helen E. McLaughlin, author of WALKING ON AIR and FOOTSTEPS IN THE SKY

This book offers a wealth of information for those of us who are contemplating a career as a flight attendant. Mr. Kirkwood is upfront with the lifestyle, and makes you really think whether it is the right one for you. I have found that the most minute details, things I failed to think about, are discussed in this book. The best part? It's reader-friendly...I couldn't put it down!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Discover which airlines are hiring, October 28, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Flight Attendant Job Finder & Career Guide (Paperback)
Despite all the gloom and doom stories about the major airlines facing bankruptcy, there are a whole lot of airlines that are hiring flight attendants as 2002 draws to a close -- and Tim Kirkwood tells us which ones they are: the lesser-known regional airlines, charters, and corporate flight operations. Kirkwood reports that these types of airlines are expanding. He covers them in detail and includes them in the extensive directory of U.S. and Canadian airlines. He offers free updates to the airline directory at two different websites ... The directory tells you everything about each airline including its application requirements, salaries, domiciles, unions, benefits, and how to apply.

Kirkwood provides a ton of valuable, up-to-date information about the whole application process including the airlines' unique approaches to interviewing. His detailed description of a typical three-day trip and his review of changes due to Sept 11, 2001 help you decide whether or not this career is right for you.

I can't remember seeing another career book that is so candid about the pluses and minuses of a career - and that is so thorough. After reading this book, you'll know more about flight attendant careers and getting jobs than many flight attendants.

5.0 out of 5 stars Free updates make this book the best!, October 31, 2000
I found this book VERY informative, and it answered most of my questions. Whatever questions remained, I was able to ask Mr. Kirkwood directly via the e-mail address he provides at the back of the book. The free update service was the greatest feature. By clicking onto the website link he gives at the end of the listings of hiring requirements, I was able to get the latest changes to the airlines, and even some new ones that aren't in the book! I've had calls for interviews from 6 airlines already. This book is a gem!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for any In-flight Services candidate!, March 21, 1999
By A Customer
As a former commercial Flight Attendant, I was very impressed with Tim's book. He tells it just as it is in real life. A sample interview, what to wear & what NOT to wear. What to say to impress them and win a spot in training! If you are serious about becoming a Flight Attendant, do yourself a favour and buy this book. You will thank yourself when you are working your first flight! I bought Tim's book for the great airline information on rates of pay, training information, hubs, bases, etc. Worth every penny!
