I had never heard of Wayanay Inka until I saw them live in San Antonio, Texas. They were playing at the outdoor market. A friend and I sat for hours listening. I was absolutely captured by their music. Actually watching the variation in instruments that they play was incredible. I highly recommend all their CD's. I bought several there where they were playing. Others include "Enchanted Feeling" & "De...Los Andes"

I lived in San Antonio for many years. I watch these guys down in Market Square whenever I'm down there and they are absolutely AWESOME. I bought 3 of their CDs so far and cherish each of hem. Their music is inspiring, comforting, relaxing, and I just can't say enough. Watching one of them, as they played, switch instruments in between notes with NO disruption of what they were playing amazed me. I just love this group! You're missing out if you love that kind of music and don't have their CDs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Andean Surprises, November 17, 2004
This review is from: The Flight of the Condor (Audio CD)
They've learned their lessons well: their technique on zamponas and sittus (pan pipes) is outstanding, and though they play many of the familiar and favorite Andean tunes, they also compose a number of their own songs: they're not afraid to tackle something out of the ordinary for an Andean group - a Bach minuet, for instance, on their first cd THE FLIGHT OF THE CONDOR, which is filled with such surprises.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soul Of The Inca, June 26, 2000
By

This review is from: The Flight of the Condor (Audio CD)
There are few things more haunting than a mountain valley as the morning mists begin to move and reveal the brilliant blue of a high altitude vista. In the solitude, a lone winged ruler glides effortlessly into sight, and you are humbled by its majesty. Without understanding or reason, you share its spirit, and grasp a memory which is indelibly imprinted on your soul.

Such scenes are intimate parts of the Inca, and root themselves in the vitality and depth of their culture. They contribute to the wide range of music which reflects their connection with the Andes and the condor. Few of us will have the chance to experience such a sight, but we all can be transported in our minds. This music affects the soul. Sometimes calming. Sometimes exciting. Never boring. Give yourself the chance. It is one of the most haunting and energetic CDs I have heard. I highly recommend it.

If you like it, and are interested in music which reflects other cultures, I would also suggest the soundtrack from "The Power of One."
