Book Description

October 1, 2002
What happens when you are sharing a flat with Prince Edward and twenty pygmies? When an artificial-foot freedom fighter throws a British-made foot at the Chairman of the Communist Party of China, and is then bundled off to a Mobile Prison made by the Ford Motor Company? What about the Lady Di Chinese Restaurant in Walthamstow which specializes in radishes carved in the shape of British Prime Ministers? Will Andrew Lloyd Webber complete his new musical "Dog Breeder"? As a stand-up comedian, Harry Hill is the equal of Eddie Izzard, Rich Hall, and Frank Skinner. Performing bareback for the first time, the self-styled debonaire dachshund now makes his fiction debut.

Editorial Reviews

Review

'Britain's funniest man' SUNDAY TELEGRAPH 'Hill's delightful brand of stand-up comedy is a great success, both live and on television. In translating it to his debut novel, he has retained the core elements: surreal non sequiturs that traverse the outer reaches of unconnectedness, running gags, and shaggy-dog stories that each produce a litter of shaggy puppies... So marvel once more at the bizarre fecundity of Hill's imagination...' OBSERVER 'I came away convinced that Hill is an authentic comic original. And that he ought to be certified.' MAIL ON SUNDAY

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes james joyce look like david baddiel, November 18, 2003
This review is from: Flight From Deathrow (Paperback)
This book... where can i begin..? It starts badly, trails off towards the middle & the less said about the ending the better.

Really, it truly is terrible. It's just a load of random crap involving the UK's g-list celebs.

It seems to me as if Harry Hill took all the garbage out of his brain and dumped it in this cesspool of a novel. The characterisation is so poor that he has to resort to naming celebrities; the ideas aren't funny, but, it has it's moments.

For example, alan titchmarsh's appearance is quite humourous, & the pig was alright, but it's overlong & the only reason i read it was because the dice told me to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Logic? What's that??, June 22, 2003

Harry Hill...
Where to begin...?!! For a start I guess most of you reading this won't be British. Harry Hill used to be a doctor before he decided one day to quit medicine and take up stand-up comedy. A perfectly standard logical decision really.
If you thought Monty Python was irreverent - you ain't see nothin' yet!

Harry desribes in his initimable style the journey of the main character as he meets various people, from Showbiz agents promoting their stars, to theiving pygmie students, to the leader of the Chinese Communist party on his way to Tower records to buy the latest Status Quo album.

I highly recommend this book!!!
Enjoy. Peace out.
