Women Learning to Fly,
By Melinda Rose (Colorado USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Flight From Fear (Paperback)
Sarah Rickman, a talented and respected journalist and biographer, treats us to a fictionalized story about women learning to fly, then applying their skills to ferry aircraft during WWII, at a time when such activities were not encouraged for women. The author skillfully creates an atmosphere that takes the reader along in the cockpit, with much excitement and stomach churning, and all that goes with it. A fun and exciting read, this book won Women Writing the West WILLA finalist award. I couldn't put it down!

This review is from: Flight From Fear (Paperback)
This book is a "ready-made soap opera." If one expects much real flying adventure, they will be very disappointed, as I was. Of course, the author, having only 22hrs in a Cessna 152 trainer, and not being a licensed pilot, can't possibly write about flying with any authority. Yuk! It drips with sap AND soap!
