This book has an unexpected start that prepares you for a different kind of gentle travelogue memoir and when you are all set to sit back and savour Greece 50-60 years ago you are thrown into WWII and then following that the civil war. It is tense and harrowing at times. It was a while ago since I read it, but immediatly recommended it as I had gained a lot more understanding of those perilous times. If you like war autobiographies than you would probably appreciate this one.
