5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE!!!
With a cd collection in excess of 3500, this is one of the Top 5 CD's I would save in the event of a fire!!! This is a definite Desert Island Disc. I can't think of another cd so filled with emotion. It's almost impossible to NOT be able to relate to this cd in some way. I only wish Linda was doing her own recording instead of producing (which she is EXCELLENT at). I...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's not great, but it's not bad
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In Linda Perry's case, it's all in the ear. As an artist, she has an exceptional voice--powerful, strong, emotive, and unbelievably beautiful. It's wonderful to hear a voice like hers--strong. Her's is the double, triple, quadruple antithesis of Britney Spears who has a weak, vulgar sounding, fingers-on-a-chalkboard voice.

As a...

I long to be moved by another CD like this. If you like melancholic, ethereal, moody music, this is a FANTASTIC cd. This CD by Linda Perry was sorely underappreciated!! Hit EBAY. ASAP...try and snag yourself a copy of this truely AWESOME cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking Flight, November 7, 2005
By
This review is from: In Flight (Audio CD)
Honestly, IN FLIGHT is a lot to process, but well worth the ride. The songs are Linda Perry at her best, honest and unforgiving yet gentle and subdued.

The catchiest you'll get is "Freeway," a song about "watering flowers all night long" and "being free of everything." But that's what makes this cd so special, it was made it for no one but the artist, like a private memento.

Then there are the reflective undertones of "Uninvited" and the hung-over slick "Fill Me Up," which shed some light on the journey.

But it's "Success," "Machine Man," and "Too Deep," introspective pieces with hazy harmonies, that give IN FLIGHT its eternal moodiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad to see this rereleased!, April 22, 2006
This review is from: In Flight (Audio CD)
It's awesome to see this CD re-released.. LINDA is an amazing song writer and the songs are so much better sang by her..

I so want to hear all these songs made famous by Courtney Love, P!NK, and Christina Aguilera sang by LINDA!

PLEASE LINDA DO THIS FOR US!!

but yeah this is an old CD released a long time back.. around the time she appeared on the CROW CITY OF ANGELS soundtack with her song KNOCK ME OUT featuring GRACE SLICK who I love as well..

I suggest you buy this CD before they stop printing it again..

4.0 out of 5 stars Good moody listening, December 19, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: In Flight (Audio CD)
I discovered Linda Perry quite by accident. I was watching the LOGO channel minutes before there umpteenth showing of Torch Song, Birdcage or some damn thing (UGH! they need to buy more movies and shows) and they showed the video for "Fill Me Up" as filler. WOW. GREAT STUFF!
I recognized the voice but since I wasn't a big fan of the 4 Non Blondes radio hit, it took some time to place it. And yes it does draw comparison to Concrete Blond. very moody, dark and slick.
"Fill Me Up" is my favorite on the album. Probably the most commercial friendly which I'm sure is not Perry's aim. She's out to make good music and she succeeds.

5.0 out of 5 stars soulful and inspiring, March 13, 2003

This review is from: In Flight (Audio CD)
being a fan of four non blondes and a fan of linda perry, in general. i did some checking and found she has some solo work. i picked this up and (like everyone else) it seems) was taken aback by how good this cd is. linda perry exerts power and emotion and knows enough to let the music do the talking at times instead of her voice.
there is a mixture of styles, musically, on this cd. it is a pretty mellow cd but still blasts with emotion. grace slick makes a guest appeareance and the vocal harmony linda and grace have is amazing. also guesting is lisa germano. she plays violin and adds such dimesnion to this great piece of art.
it is not surprising to see why linda is the mastermind behind pink and christina aguliara'a second album. if you read credits, you will see linda wrote christian's song beautiful and helped all around. read the credits on pink's misundaztood album. linda had a hand there too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Music Goddess Gets her Due..., April 30, 2002

Nemesis (Houston, tx.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In Flight (Audio CD)
I was living in L.A. at the time, and my crazy brother-in-law came upon a small wine crate of c.d.s. Most were of the mediocre fare, but one in particular; caught my eye. It was a cd-r, in a case with a blue cover from a MASTERING STUDIO. It was weird to see it, even though I was an (and still am) m.c./producer. On the front it said, Linda Perry "In Flight." I popped it in. About and hour or so later, (delayed by repeating a song or 2) I was in awe--I had fallen in love with this woman. She is the best singer/songwriter I've ever heard. Afterwards, I carried the c.d. everywhere. I listened to it back to back--everyday--then at least once or twice in full, everyday. Needless to say, I have forever been changed as both an artist, and a human. She inspires alot of my work both compositon, and lyrically. You probably won't hear her style, but just the passion and commitment to my true self. And for that i thank her. -NEMESIS

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, April 14, 1999
By
This review is from: In Flight (Audio CD)
I bought this cd one week after its release after listening to a couple of songs in a cd store playing station. This is one of the most heartfelt cd's that I have ever heard. Linda Perry just throws emotion at you. I'm not exaggerating here at all--when I play this cd, I honestly sometimes have to stop what I'm doing, sit down, and soak it in. It is so breathtaking.

If you love a great, strong voice and beautiful, etheral songs do yourself a treat and buy this cd. When you listen to songs like Uninvited, you will know that this was a sound purchase. Linda Perry, fortunately for the listener, did not water this cd down with "radio friendly" tracks. Instead she delivers one great, powerhouse of a cd. Excellent! I'd love to see her in concert. (If you're reading Linda, come to Oklahoma!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Instant Favorite, October 8, 2002
By
This review is from: In Flight (Audio CD)
It's a great experience when something exceeds your expectations. A few years back, I heard "Knock Me Out" on the Crow soundtrack and was impressed. When the cd was released in '96, "Fill me up" received limited airplay here for about a week. That was the extent of my exposure to Linda's work, other than her 4 Non days. Six years have passed and I don't know what whim it was that caused me to buy Linda's cd but I am glad I gave in to my compulsions. I won't sit here and dissect the cd, because everyone is different and will find their own things to like. All I can say is that it's one of those albums that's good from start to finish. Mellow, emotional, put it in kick back and drift off. If you were not a fan of 4 Non-Blondes, give this one a chance; you're going to be pleasantly surprised. I will undoubtedly be telling my friends about this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars After Hours, December 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: In Flight (Audio CD)
It looks like you still need to go to Linda's website, rockstarrecords.com, to get her followup album, After Hours, which while more in the style of classic rock, is still like this album in terms unbelievably high quality. Linda's music is so incredible that the only possible reason she is not more widely recognized as a sensation and a legend is that she must not want to be for some reason.

5.0 out of 5 stars Linda's mood & voice stay with me long after the CD's over, November 3, 1998
This review is from: In Flight (Audio CD)
I was an enthusasitc fan of 4 Non Blonds, but only because of Linda Perry. It's a shame the industry hasn't choasen to expose this voice and talent to the mainstream. Although, it's kind of fun being part of the Linda Perry underground, I'd love her to have more exposure. Her lyrics are as haunting as her voice. Unlike the annoying "catchy" melodies you hear all day on the radio, Perry's melodies roll through your brain like a soothing tide, long after the CD is over. "Some Weird Sin" has gut wrenching feeling, similar to "What's up", this time questioning success and needs, and the desire to be free. "Fill Me Up" is a great song, lyrically, discussing the day-after a long party. I've had plenty of those discussions with friends. Thanks again, Linda, for spilling your guts and sharing your heart with us. It's nice to hear a singer that doesn't manufacture pain and emotion in their music for a buck.
