5.0 out of 5 stars Very Comfortable Read
A relaxed weekend at the beach and a copy of "Flight to Paradise" provided the perfect combination for rejuvenation. It was a very pleasant read which carried me along chapter to chapter. The story left me satisfied that tales embracing the simple virtues of truth, hope, and love are still out there. One down... two to go. On with the Trilogy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I'd hoped for

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I'd hoped for, January 16, 2012
This review is from: FLIGHT TO PARADISE (Paperback)
A friend of mine gave me her copy of this book. That was my first clue to how it would turn out - I must confess that neither of us part with really good reads easily.

I normally will finish a novel no matter how bad I find it, however I found this author's writing style so juvenile and unpolished that I couldn't continue. The misogynistic, stereotyped female characters frustrated me and parts of the narrative were clumsy to read.

I wanted to like this. Unfortunately, I found myself also passing it on. There are people here who liked it, so hopefully it will find a home with someone like them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring book failed to deliver, January 12, 2012
I decided to give this book a try after reading the previous reviews. I was incredibly disappointed. There are a number of distracting grammatical mistakes throughout the story. I would easily be able to ignore those if it weren't for the slow moving plot that contains a lot of telling and chucks of narrative text that break up the action. Finally, the author worked way too hard on making the characters sound Southern. They instead come off sounding sterotypical and fake. In fact, much of the diaglogue feels fake and far to stilted. Overall, the premise had promise (I love reunion stories), but failed to deliver. I won't be reading the second the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Clean Entertainment, January 16, 2012

I read quite a bit and a wide variety of genres. I also write articles myself and I found this to be truly a work of art. Mr. Coe has a fabulous way of weaving the story and taking you on a journey. If you are not from this area you will enjoy it, and if you are from Southern Calif. than you are in for a real treat. The story is captivating and enjoyable. I have loaned my copy out and it has passed through several hands with tremendous feedback from all. Fasten your seatbelt and enjoy your flight.

Mike Coe did an excellent job in his initial story. Developing his characters as broken people living in a broken world, he touched on the spiritual struggles of each character's life without being preachy. I totally enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the sequels to see how the story will continue and how the characters will develop in this story of hope with God's grace, forgiveness and redemption. I credit Mike's blog [...] for intensifying the anticipation for the 2nd book in his trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A love story that will surprise you, December 27, 2011
This review is from: Flight to Paradise: Flight Trilogy, Book 1 (Paperback)
Once I started, it was almost impossible to put down. The chapters were short and the story was gripping. I was caught off guard more than once with twist that kept me thinking, "How could I have missed that?" It was definately an emotional roller coaster that not only tugged at my heart but made me laugh out loud. It was a fun book with some serious themes that were not preachy. It had a strong message of hope. Coe seems to understand what makes people tick.

It is a love story with a touch of mystery and suspense. I must also add that it is NOT a typical Romance Novel but much more. It has a feel-good ending that will make you want to re-read the book. Without giving any spoilers, the ending will send your mind searching to remember the scenes and how they were building a puzzle that you could only see in the end. It's hard to explain. I wish more authors would spend the time to build stories like this. I can't wait to see if Coe can do it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect relaxed vacation reading, June 20, 2010
This review is from: FLIGHT TO PARADISE (Paperback)
My wife warned me that this one was hard to put down which is why I waited until our short vacation to read it. She was exactly right and Flight To Paradise made my perfect early morning companion. The author weaves a great story with many twists and turns that keeps the pages turning quickly with anticipation. I highly recommend it and think it would make a great gift for any occasion and for both young and old. This is a book that gives great lessons in relationships all along the way and one that everyone can take something valuable from. I think I'll read it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Enjoyable Piece of Literature by Any and Every Criteria, January 11, 2011

This review is from: FLIGHT TO PARADISE (Paperback)
Often times, a book is enjoyable for me because it's full of intrigue and mystery and keeps me hooked and turning every page from start to finish, wishing I could read faster than I can to see what is coming around the next bend in the road. Other times, a book is enjoyable for me because I love the author's creamy rich writing style and prose, his character development and imagery, wishing that I had read more slowly because I just didn't want the journey to be over.

In Flight to Paradise, the reader is in for a real treat because Mike Coe is a wonderful writer and storyteller who really knows how to deliver. Simply put, by each and all of these criteria, Mike Coe has hit a homerun with Flight to Paradise. Read it; your only dilemma will be figuring out how to race through to the surprising conclusion without letting it come to an end.

This book is one of the few I have found lately that you do not have to skip words or paragraphs so you do not have foul language. The story is captivating and holds your attention. I was reading in bed and before I knew it the clock said 2:00 AM! Once you start reading you can not put it down. Wonderful reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Flight to destiny, January 2, 2012
This review is from: FLIGHT TO PARADISE (Paperback)
I read this book at a key moment in my life. It sucked me in. I had to read every word before putting it down. Besides the fact that Mike's clever storytelling seemed familiar and conversational, it was almost as if the book was written for me. I saw myself and my story etched on the pages, and I'm not alone in this experience. The words are bigger than Mike probably realizes himself. This is an ordained and blessed book with potential to move any audience. Jump in and see if doesn't tell your story as well.
