5.0 out of 5 stars Reach Your Destination. Solid. Hard Hitting. No "Fluff".
Brian Tracy nails the whole issue of attaining success and reaching our destination -- despite the fact we are almost always off course. The solution, he says, is to make constant course corrections. 3.0 out of 5 stars Same old "success" rehash
Brian Tracy has made millions from jumping feet first into the American "success industry" by recycling the same old stuff over and over and over. Unable to discover anything new, (how many ways can you say Set Goals, Work Hard, Persevere?) in this latest attempt to grab what's left in your pocket, Tracy rehashes the same common-sense principles he already advocated in...

This review is from: Flight Plan: The Real Secret of Success (Hardcover)
Brian Tracy has made millions from jumping feet first into the American "success industry" by recycling the same old stuff over and over and over. Unable to discover anything new, (how many ways can you say Set Goals, Work Hard, Persevere?) in this latest attempt to grab what's left in your pocket, Tracy rehashes the same common-sense principles he already advocated in "Maximum Achievement," "The Way to Wealth," "Million Dollar Habits" and many, many others. This isn't to say that what he preaches doesn't make sense, but it also made sense when it was first said by Jim Rohn, Denis Waitley, Earl Nightingale and many others. The Brian Tracy "success factory" is a machine that simply cranks out title after title, all the while plugging Tracy's speaking tours and, get this, "Brian Tracy University" -- yet one more profit center for you-know-who. All these "success masters" are successful at one thing: promoting themselves.

Brian Tracy nails the whole issue of attaining success and reaching our destination -- despite the fact we are almost always off course. The solution, he says, is to make constant course corrections. We must also recognize there are no hidden "secrets" to success, but only "universal principles and timeless truths that have been discovered and rediscovered throughout the ages." (p.2). I strongly recommend reading his book "Eat That Frog!" along with this, as the pair go hand in hand toward overcoming obstacles and getting the highest value tasks accomplished in order to achieve our goals. This book is a solid, rather quick read.

Today there are a number of mystical, metaphysical books, videos, etc. on the market that speak of success/fullfillment. This tome cuts through the fog and lays out the reality of what it takes to be "successful", regardless of your definition. It is a refreshing discourse that gives you a certainty that you too can apply these principles and succeed beyond you wildest dreams! Well Done, Mr Tracy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real world advice, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Flight Plan: The Real Secret of Success (Hardcover)
This book provides a proven method to be happier and earn money. I have taken more risk, started a new business, increased my income, savings, network, and happiness as a result of Brian's teachings. This book is not academic strategies that work in an ideal world but rather a practical prescription for success written by someone who is in the street everyday speaking, consulting, and solving problems. Do yourself a favor and make the best investment you can and that is in your own development. Thank you....

5.0 out of 5 stars "Flight Plan" is fantastic. Get it today and get to where you want to go faster., February 9, 2008

This review is from: Flight Plan: The Real Secret of Success (Hardcover)
Looking at your goals like a flight plan is a great analogy for getting to where you want to go. This book helps you understand that without a "Flight Plan" you will simply wander about forever. With a "Flight Plan" or goals you will get to where you want to go faster and easier.

This book and all of Brian Tracy's books are fantastic. They are well written to inform you in a way that is understandable and achievable. This book specifically analogizes your goals to a flight plan. For instance if an airplane never hits full throttle at take off what will happen? The same thing applies in your life. You must hit full throttle to get airborne and achieve all of you goals. It is amazing how similar our lives are like an airplane trying to get to its destination. Turbulence and weather are always a factor for a pilot and he understands this and plans to deal with it ahead of time with a plan.

Bravo, Bravo Brian Tracy for writing such inspirational books that motivate and help people understand the importance of perseverance and planning.

"Flight Plan" is a quick read of about three hours and it has a few exercises that will get you thinking and moving today. Pick this book up and enjoy the words of a truly successful person.

My hope is that this book can be shared with more people to broaden our dreams, hopes, and most of all, our world's future.

Thank you,

Austin Jones

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellence Personified, November 20, 2008

This review is from: Flight Plan: The Real Secret of Success (Hardcover)
I have long respected Brian Tracy as one of the most thoughtful and classy of the self help authors. For sure, there are many with more hype and more flash, but whether in reading one of his books or in attending one of his speeches, one can count on Brian to be consistently excellent. And, his latest book is yet another example of excellence personified.

I thoroughly enjoyed how the author wrapped many of his long held beliefs about the importance of goal setting, planning, and perseverance into an analogy of a cross country flight. I thought the analogy is a good one and was skillfully used throughout the book.

In an age when many books are not well written, I found this to be well written. Every sentence served a purpose and built on the previous. The combo of the well done analogy and the good writing made for an enjoyable and impactful read.

Many consultants and authors (Tracy is both) seemingly like to take the simple and make it complex so they can dazzle us with their brilliance. Brian takes the complex and makes it simple...and therefore eminently implementable. Because I am fanatical about results, implementation resonates well with me.

Like Brian, this book is not flashy and not hype. Just excellence personified. And, that is a very, very good thing!

4.0 out of 5 stars A 12-point plan on how to achieve your goals in life, November 14, 2008
This review is from: Flight Plan: The Real Secret of Success (Hardcover)
Many regard Brian Tracy as the paladin of platitudes, but that doesn't mean his message isn't worthwhile. The old verities - Work hard! Think positive! You can achieve anything you put your mind to! - remain eternally valid. That's why motivational authors like Tracy depend on them so heavily. Such venerable homilies continue to pack a punch. As Abraham Lincoln said, "God must love the common man, he made so many of them." And, in contrast, author Philip Wylie said, "God must hate the common man, he made them so common." In the end, everything comes down to personal taste and attitude. getAbstract believes the acid test for Tracy's books is: Do they help you? This particular offering warmly and accessibly charts a plan for taking hold of your life by using the metaphor of an airplane flight. See if it helps you take off.
