Check a flight's route and progress

FlightView Free, an ad-supported flight tracking app for your Android device, provides a helpful way to keep up with flight information. Intuitive and easy to navigate, FlightView Free lets you check flight arrival and departure times, view a flight's altitude and speed, save trip details, and see airport delay maps.

FlightView Free is particularly easy to use. The home screen prompts you to search for flights by flight number or route. Touching the menu button brings up either the airport delay map or the My Trips tab, which lets you enter and save travel details for as many trips as you like.

Flight facts

If you know your flight number you can call it up quickly. If you need to find a flight you can enter departure and arrival cities and FlightView Free will find flights that match your criteria. A map of a flight's progress is available if that flight is currently is in the air. FlightView also provides current weather information for any arrival or departure city.

Flight details can be shared through e-mail and text messaging, or on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Flight can also be saved to your Gmail calendar.

A widget is provided that enables saved flights to be displayed on your phone's home screen.

Please note that this version tracks flights only within North America, or with one end point in North America.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fully functional app with map November 24, 2011
Verified Purchase
For being the free version of Flightview it is a great app. This app allows you to input multiple future trips and set alarms. It also gives you the ability to track a flight that is in air and get updates.

Only thing giving it a lower rating is the ad's are intrusive in the fact that they change sizes and can easily cause a user to click on the add when they dont want to. IE: trying to click a + or - button on the bottom of the application screen might get pushed up just before pushing it and next thing you know your in the market place getting ready to accept permissions to install a new app. not cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very useful app for my Kindle Fire December 3, 2011
Verified Purchase
This is a nice app, and it doesn't appear to be stripped down or crippled as many free apps are. I used it yesterday to track my wife's flight from Atlanta, Georgia to Austin, Texas. I entered some other flights just to check out the app, and it really works well on my Kindle Fire. It even overlays weather radar to show where any storms are.

For flights in the air, you can switch back-and-forth between text info and live map views.

FlightView is a really useful, easy to use app. Kudos to the developer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great app while flying. October 22, 2011

I found this app in the app store and downloaded it for when we travel. I enjoy the feature of being able to follow our flight on the ground and locate where we are at al times. It makes the trip more interestig and is a great app for former pilots that like to follow their progress on the flight. As always I found it on Amazon and the download was quick and easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars great & useful! February 18, 2013

This app is very accurate and reliable. My son is a pilot and I use it alot, however anyone who uses the airline services would find it beneficial. It will tell you if a flight is delayed or on time, and you can actually see the plane and location on the screen. It tells you when it lands, and when it departs. Also includes gate number. Always works great!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite apps May 21, 2011
I travel frequently on business and find FlightView VERY handy. I can put in my itineraries ahead of time with the airline's lookup code. This is very handy when printing out boarding passes while on the road. The status updates are great too. Many times I get the update at about the same time the boards in the airport update. You can also e-mail itineraries and status updates directly from your phone with a couple of clicks. Great for updating your ride from the airport!
