Devotees of the Flint ideal battled with La Canada factions during city incorporation to commemorate him by saddling the various La Canada communities with the lengthy name of La Canada Flintridge.

I live in the town that I grew up in. I know that is grammatically incorrect, but it's how I talk. I know it's important to speak and write in words that are the most universally understood. That is why everything academic is so homogenized these days. I love to write and paint. Hopefully my joy of reaching out will comfort and support others with similar views and struggles. We all speak a different language. More and more, visual and non-verbal imagery (like music and photography) seem to be regaining their ancient importance of basic communication. I am happy to adapt. I like to write poetry, non-fiction about what was here before now, and make things like mosaics and paintings. I try to learn as much as I can about everything because I am very curious. But, then I want to make things out of what I learned. Devour (or eat things gently) and then create. It keeps things moving! My conflict is that everything I do relates to my surroundings, so I have had to learn how to live in harmony. This is the challenge and hope of my life.
