5.0 out of 5 stars Finally...a great tool!
I am a grandmother of seven and have never learned a second language...never saw the need, I guess. However, it has become necessary to change that because my grandchildren are being taught (beginning at age 3!) Spanish. One of my grandsons will describe something to me in Spanish, and I have no idea what he's talking about.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Dissatisfied
I purchased this workbook/cd to teach my 4-year-old daughter Spanish and was surprised by the poor quality of the book, the lessons and the cd. The book is cheaply made (no color, low-res graphics, thin paper, only 59 pages) and the lessons were not engaging to my child. The accompanying cd only pronounced the vocabulary words (no games, music, themes, etc.) The flash...

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally...a great tool!, August 8, 2005
I am a grandmother of seven and have never learned a second language...never saw the need, I guess. However, it has become necessary to change that because my grandchildren are being taught (beginning at age 3!) Spanish. One of my grandsons will describe something to me in Spanish, and I have no idea what he's talking about.

When I received this book I got excited because it's very easy to follow, especially with the CD. The most helpful to me are the pictures because I'm a visual learner! When I can make an association then I don't forget it.

I really hope there will be more books because I would like to learn as my grandchildren learn; it just makes it more fun when I can communicate with them on another level. You can be assured I'll buy any future books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, August 9, 2005
There are 14 lessons with 3-4 days of practice work for each. The CD is a valuable resource for correct pronunciation and the short lessons are doable for the young child and busy mom! Definitely a fun, low-stress introduction to Spanish!

This review is from: Flip Flop Spanish: Ages 3-5: Level 1 (Book + CD) (Spiral-bound)
I purchased this workbook/cd to teach my 4-year-old daughter Spanish and was surprised by the poor quality of the book, the lessons and the cd. The book is cheaply made (no color, low-res graphics, thin paper, only 59 pages) and the lessons were not engaging to my child. The accompanying cd only pronounced the vocabulary words (no games, music, themes, etc.) The flash cards at the back should have been perforated and on thicker paper. Also, there are only twelve flash cards which seems like a waste of time. I purchased other beginning Spanish books/cds for children (Speak in a Week, Spanish for Children, I Can Read & Speak in Spanish) and was very pleased with these publications. I paid more for this workbook ($29) because of the rave reviews. I'm not sure why everyone else seems so happy with Flip Flop Spanish but I wanted to share my thoughts. I am returning this to Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Workbook, August 8, 2005
I heard about this book from a relative. I decided my four year granddaughter and I should give it a whirl since she is such a Dora the Explorer Fan. I was a little leery since I know no other languages nor am I a teacher. We have had a great time time learning Spanish together!! The CD is a huge help. The lesson segments are short enough to leave us wanting more and the flip flop concept keeps us from skipping around. I certainly recommend this book.

My son is 5 years old and found this to be a little slow but he is learning from it. We are continuing to work on it daily and he is improving.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Toddlers, October 13, 2005
My 3 year old and I have only done one lesson, and he already calls it "his workbook". The lessons are easy, relative, and a great way to remember to practice (even if its just a little bit) everyday! Great for parents and teachers for preschool children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful intro. to Spanish, August 7, 2005
Flip Flop Spanish is a fun activity book that is user friendly for the teacher and the student. The author explains how to teach Spanish right down to the correct pronunciation of words and keeps my four year old wanting more! I got more for my money than I expected a cd, flash cards, and advice from the author! Lastly, this book suggests easy ways to incorporate Spanish outside of the class where it really matters! I do not think there is another Spanish workbook like this; I will definitely be looking for the next levels. Thanks!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning made fun, August 9, 2005

This book has made learning fun for both my son and myself. We enjoy the CD and the flashcards. The FlipFlop concept is great. The lesson plans are short enough to keep my 3 year old engaged. Our daycare is planning on using this as a learning tool in the 3-5 year old rooms -- I recommend this book.

GREAT Job on creating a tool for non-spanish speaking moms to use in teaching spanish to our kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent beginning Spanish, August 17, 2007

I have 6 children from the ages of 3-13. All of us, including myself enjoy listening to the cd. She talks to the kids, not down to the kids. It is not dry, just reading the words, but more converstational sounding. I highly recommend the book and cd set. It is worth every penny.

1.0 out of 5 stars Big Ticket Little Value, October 28, 2008

This review is from: Flip Flop Spanish: Ages 3-5: Level 1 (Book + CD) (Spiral-bound)
This product is expensive! Is it worth it?

I have been teaching Spanish and French in local nursery schools & daycares in NJ for eight years. It is great to encourage parents to teach their little ones. Some excellent product series have appeared in the last four years: the Ana Lomba books & tapes, the Professor Toto DVD's, the Language Tree French/Spanish for Kids DVD's, Whistlefritz' "Los Animales" and SpanishPlaytime's "Muevete" (last 2 Sp. only).

This workbook/CD is inappropriate for ages 3-5, who need gross-motor activity, music, color, big tactile props. You can do far better for same or better price with items mentioned above, or even old tried-and-true song-&-picture series like Barbara MacArthur's (Sing/Dance/Eat Quiche/Tacos) or Judy Mahoney's (Teach Me French/ Spanish).
