Book Description

Alabama Hargrove has a new, sure-fire, money-making scheme up her sleeve:
house flipper. So what if she knows zilch about renovating homes--how hard
can it be?

Tougher than she thought when she discovers ghosts inhabiting the run-down
mansion and the corpse of the previous owner. Oh yeah, and now the local sheriff thinks Alabama is the killer.

Holy house rehab, what's next? Reed O'Hara, the sexy know-it-all next door neighbor that's what. Alabama is hell-bent on proving she can handle the fixer-upper. Plus, unravel the mystery and find the killer. But if she's not careful, she may end up in the house forever...

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner November 1, 2011

Pressey's books are always fun to read. This one is no exception. Alabama Hargrove never finishes a project she starts. Her latest "brilliant" idea is to buy an old house, renovate it, and flip it. This time she is determined to succeed. She buys the house only to discover that it is haunted. Later that day, she makes another shocking discovery....a dead body. You'll laugh at her antics as she tries her hand at renovating while also trying to track down a killer. Nothing ever quite works out as planned...

5.0 out of 5 stars Hottie neighbor, Murder, and Ghosts Oh My!!! October 14, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"How hard can it be?" Alabama Hargrove says about flipping a house, after all, its just one step above interior decorating, right? After seeing the house once, and without an inspector, Alabama has decided to buy and flip a house that may or may not be haunted. After getting burned by the only other handyman in Alabama has decided she has to go with her new sizzling hot next door neighbor, Reed. After signing the papers for the house, Alabama finds that she has to turn her car around and get the key to her new house. Instead of a key she find the former owner murdered in his office. With the police thinking she is the killer, Alabama must start looking for the killer on her own. After some attempts on her life, Alabama enlists the help of her best friend, her new hot neighbor, his aunt, her mama, the town gossip, and possibly the ghosts who are making all that noise in her house to help her solve this murder before she becomes victim number two.

This is a great story from start to finish! The characters are down home people that you may meet any day of the week , they are alive and make the story come alive as well. The story was FULL of amazing humor and great one-liners. The plot was great and super twists and turns (but nothing to get confused over).

Rose Pressey is an amazing writer. I really can't wait to see what she comes up with next!!! Well Done, Rose!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Ahh what do I say November 2, 2011

The story was good, however not very well edited.
Surprised me as I am a fan and enjoy her work.
Found I had to re-read sentences to get the correct word.
Still excited to read more from Rose tho!

So I bought this book a few days ago, thinking it would be a nice, easy vacation read. The majority of reviews are great, plus I love the Deadwood series, by Anne Charles, and this sounded somewhat similar to that. Boy was I wrong. This book is horrible. I wasn't expecting a literary masterpiece by any stretch, but the writing is exceptionally poor. I had to spend a lot of time re-read paragraphs, as the writing is quite disjointed. Besides poor writing, the main character is completely unlikable. She's a TOTAL drama queen, not to mention an idiot. She is suppose to be 26 or 27 I think, but she acts about 15yrs old. It's not often I loathe a main character, but "Bama" is one of the most obnoxious characters I think I have ever encountered. I typically have a strict policy of always finishing a book before I will review it- you really should see it through to the end before you pass judgement right? However, I gave up 60% through this one. The writing is just that bad, and Alabama is just that irritating.

Truly Awful,

Sad to say I have not had much luck with my last two purchases from Amazon. Even though these books were inexpensive I would expect them to do the job of entertaining me for a few hours. Neither did.

The second last book was pretty bad but Flip That Haunted House beats it by a mile. How old is the author and who is her target audience?

The whole story remained one dimensional from start to finish. The main character was shown to be falling down a lot, why?. Why were the police so against her?. Why were her friends so immature and jealous?. Why was the kidnapped victim kidnapped?. Why did I waste my time actually finishing this book?

I could go on but feel lost as to why so many reviewers gave this book four and five stars. Why?

If you other reviewers want to read an amazing ghost story with a story line with great depth and characters to match. Try out the Garden Trilogy by Nora Roberts.

This was my first book by this author and will be my last.

1.0 out of 5 stars Quirky yes, good, no. March 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Disjointed, poor timeline, inconsistencies throughout. Alabama did not have any visible means of support but could buy a house using all her savings as down payment and seemed to have an endless supply of money to through at remodeling expenses. In film, it's called continuity - this has none.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor editing February 6, 2013
By KG
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The overall storyline was ok, poor editing (spelling, swopping of character names etc) unremarkable character development and unsubstantiated motive killed this book for me. For instance, I don't get why the kidnapped character was even kidnapped? Does anybody?

I really enjoy this author, however, this book was a little slow for me. It took a while to get into it. I loved the ending though and wished it had lasted a bit more!
