This set is perfect for tutors, or teachers working with a few children. There is a little bit of everything in this kit, and the items all seem quality and are neatly organized in compartments within a plastic box. Of course, on their own, the pieces are not that exciting.. teachers of course need to provide the students with activities using the pieces, which is the fun part!

I ordered this when I was home-schooling my daughter, since age 3. The pieces are still intact, very durable, and we're missing very little from the box - if I give her some pieces from the set for free play, I put them in a plastic bag and that seems to work for cleanup, I think cleaning up after the entire box would be overwhelming for any kid. The lid stays on, even when the box has been dropped.
By "free play" I mean using the pieces to make up your own games, educational or otherwise. The 2-sided red and white "beans" especially are great for this; two or more kids will make up their own games with pencils and papers and beans with rules that are incomprehensible to adults, but hey, they're happy :) We've also used several "people" from the set to replace game counters lost from other games. I found a LOT of online, printable activities to go along with this kit before I ordered it. You can also add dice to use with the Cuisenaire rods to expand educational play. The coins are realistic enough in feel, though not shiny, to real American coins. We haven't yet run out of pieces during play, so I think this set is a great value!
