I've tried making videos with a bicycle helmet and a Flip Ultra. Using a little foam rubber between the helmet and the stand, I can strap down the base tightly. The plastic is flexy, Flips are elongated and don't have image stabilization, so videos shake even when things are not particularly rough. VirtualDub and the Deshake plugin do a surprisingly good job of mitigating the shake and rolling shutter jello, although with reduced quality and black edges. I like the design, hopefully it will be improved: a little metal here and there would help. A Flip standing on top of a helmet looks terrible; the Amazon pictures artfully minimize this (by placing it at the front of the helmet, extending the arm downward, and photographing the edge, not the face, of the Flip).

I really like this tripod, The action mount it is a lot bulkier than another version that flip had produced. The tripod legs make this harder to mount in tight spaces and the plastic bits don't absorb shock at all so be careful if you want to use on something like a bike or skate board. For the price it is good and still versatile.

As a few other reviews have noted, this tripod doesn't provide a very stable image when attached to anything that moves. This is a fairly important aspect to an action tripod. I used this with my GoPro once on my bike stem and the camera was shaking over paved road, even though I had tightened the ball join to the extreme. I can only imaging how wobbly a Flip camera would be on this, given that the lens is at the very top of a tall camera.

Even as a three leg tripod it doesn't perform that well, the two flip out legs are incredibly flimsy and unstable, you will have to ensure that the camera is fairly well centered to avoid the whole thing toppling over.

The only way this tripod works well is when strapped to a stationary object/pole. The velcro straps are fairly sturdy and there's non-slip padding on the underside. Unfortunately, every other intended use for this tripod falls well short of the mark.

You're far better off buying the Pedco UltraPod II Pedco UltraPod II Lightweight Camera Tripod for $16.63, or the Pedco UltraPod Pedco UltraPod Lightweight Camera Tripod for $13.10; prices including shipping and lifetime warranty.

While the two velcro straps on this unit are a bonus, as opposed to only one on the Pedco tripods, the head assembly is not strong enough even to hold up my Panasonic FZ200 when the lens is extended, and it weighs only 1.3 pounds.

Also, both legs broke off after only a few months. I never even used the legs... just found them broken off one day in my camera bag. Apparently, the plastic cracked at the point where brass inserts connect the legs via an articulated joint to the body of the pod.

This little tripod is just what I needed. It is small enough to be carried in my purse which is a big plus. I like that I can use it to take videos with my family instead of being left out while I operate the camera. One of the best features of this tripod is the multiple adjustments you can make in the camera angle. It not only moves up and down but has the ability to swivel as well. I would definitely recommend it.

Love this piece! I use it all the time @ the range to analyze my swing. The velcro straps give it massive versatility. The only reason for the 4 stars is one of the tripod legs snapped off easily on my first unit. Company replaced it, so all good there - but time will tell if durability is an issue with this one.

This would receive Five stars for convenience and usability if it were not for the fact that the camera mount cannot be tightened enough at the thumb wheel. If I tighten it any further, it will surely break. As a mini-portable tripod, it's fine but when used as a mobile mount on my bicycle helmet, every bump will cause the camera position to slowly shift away from the setting. Fortunately the resting position of the camera which prevents further movement on bumps is exactly a good position for filming.

I was interested in this for mounting my camera on my helmet, bicycle, etc, but it turns out that it isn't strong enough to stand up to any real use. If I was going very slowly or holding still it could work, but even the size and construction make it so it does not fit onto my bicycle handlebars and trying to get it to hold the camera on my helmet is pointless because:
1. It (the tripod) is difficult to mount at all
2. The camera, after a little movement, starts to aim at the ground or the sky even with the knob securely tightened
