Convenient But...An After-Thought?,

These extensions or 'patch cords' make it easy to download your videos from the Flip Camcorder. BUT, they should have been included in the original packaging of the Flip Camera. The Flip is just too bulky (even at its small size) to "hang" onto the USB port of your computer. Plus, I think these are overpriced. You only need one. You only need one color.

This was the worst thing that I have purchased all year. To my misfortune, I threw out the box before I had a chance to see what a piece of garbage this was, and my chances of returning it were gone. First of all, they give you three extension cords of different lengths when all you really need is one. Secondly, all three are a little too tight to plug into the camera. I found out that the camera itself is not at all that heavy and stays suspended in the USB port without tension all by itself. Safe your money... its just unnecessary and not worth it!

These don't fit,
By David Blair (Minneapolis, MN USA) - See all my reviews

I bought these color-coded USB extenders to go with the matching camera sleeves and THEY DON'T FIT! The USB ports don't connect to the camera ports. I couldn't believe it, so I tried all 3 cords with both of the cameras and none of them fit. I saw an earlier post that said they're too tight, but I don't want to force it. Basically, they're useless. They're also too short for their purpose; even with the extension cords, the camera hangs off a desktop computer. Completely worthless.

The cable is too tight for the camera connection. I'm concerned that it can damage the flip plug

Ok, I read the other reviews before I bought this and went ahead and bought it anyway. For starters this is something that should come with the camcorder, you only need one. For seconds they are all too short unless you lay the camcorder on the tower. For thirds the fit is a bit on the tight side and makes me worry that I will break the arm off the camcorder. It's a nessary evil.

Yes! The cables are too tight, however I'm using one of the shorter ones and it is loosening up some. I hold on tightly to support the USB arm of the camera when I put on or take off the cable. I suppose you don't need the cables, but I thought it might take it toll on the arm dangling over time. If you don't like the camera hanging off the USB port you could put something under it to support the camera. There is a cable here on Amazon that is under seven dollars. It has the male and female ends that you need. I bought the Flip cables thinking it would be a better fit...who knew!?

Connectors don't fit!,

I really wanted to like these cables, and I probably would if they actually fit. After realizing almost immediately how tight they were, I was afraid to plug one into my computer. I was finally able to get one to work by using some fine grit sandpaper to "adjust" the ends. It was painful, and who has that kind of time? Don't get these - there are better, cheaper options available.

A Poor Design = Bad Quality Control,
By

I had the fortune of receiving this item as "free bonus" when purchasing my Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder (from another retailer) so I can't complain about my experience too much, but here is what I can tell you:
The Flip Video Camcorder's USB arm is supposed to plug into one end of the USB cable while the end plugs into a USB port on your computer. The good news is that the USB cable fits perfectly into the USB port of the computer. The bad news is to get the USB arm from the camcorder into any of the included USB Cables you have to struggle a bit. The same goes for removing the USB arm from the USB cable. It feels like eventually the USB arm will break off the camcorder. The three (3) included USB cables are really multi-purpose. You can use them to extend any USB cable, but again you will struggle to plug in your device to the female end of the cable. Because of the problems you are likely to encounter with the poor design, I am giving this only 2 Stars. Flip AUC1CP1 USB Cables for Flip Camcorders (Pink, Orange, White)

I am hooking up my flip to a tower so I needed a USB so it would not hang. I do believe they are too tight but they do loosen up over time. I hold the USB firmly and rock it back and forth while pulling and it will come apart from the flip. I have never had a problem with it disconnecting from my computer. There are three sizes so no matter where your USB plug is the Flip shouldn't be hanging off of your tower. My daughter has a bunch of pink for her computer so I gave her the pink USB with no complaints.
True the company could have put a USB in with the flip but I am not bothered by it. So I give this product 4 stars because of the tightness.

I brought these because I wanted ot be able to put my flip on the desk insted of plugging directly into the computer. It was okay but I had ot use all three together. I would have preferred the option to buy them in black since my flip is black or 3 of one color.
