The lights worked for two weeks then quit working, June 6, 2011
This review is from: Flipo Solar Tube Light 102 LEDs Garden Accent Green
I ordered two of these green 33-foot solar-powered rope lights to put around the edge of our dock. First, it took three full days of SW Florida sunshine to charge them up. I charged them to make sure they worked before I installed them around my dock edge. Second, one of the rope lights has a so-so connection between the battery and the lights: it flickers sometimes when I barely move the battery/solar panel box. Also, one of the nighttime sensors tends to lag behind the other one. The parts all seem cheaply made, and I am genuinely worried about the plastic outer shell of the rope melting in the sun. Why can't I find a solar rope light made in the USA? This one is from China.
The very faint illumination level is absolutely perfect for our dock on the canal. Not nearly as bright as the standard electric rope lights, these provide about one-twentieth or less of that illumination. That's why I purchased them, because we have two other solar garden lights and I suspected that these would be very, very faint. It gives our dock a beautiful, subtle nighttime presence without annoying the neighbors or night boaters. These were installed two days ago, at the beginning of June 2011, and I will check back in to either amend this review or post another one at the end of summer. Oh, and the color is a true green.
Edited June 20th, 2011: One of the strings has failed and I am unable to fix it. My initial impression of "cheaply made" was correct. I will return these and not purchase again.
