This was a fun romantic story with lots of interesting supporting characters. At the heart of the story is Sabrina. She is a sweet, single Christian who is looking for positive changes in her life and her walk with Christ for the fast approaching New Year. One of those things she hopes will change is her frustrating relationship with her boss, talk-show host and diva extraordinaire Darci. Sabrina's convinced that Darci is standing in the way of the promotion that she deserves. In addition to a few other changes like losing weight and staying far away from distracting romantic relationships, Sabrina is sure that making these changes will lead her to the more fulfilling life she wants

The interesting twist of this story enters when Darci mistakenly gets a hold of Sabrina's New Year's resolution list. Having become suspicious that her ex and the show's producer Avery has a burgeoning interest in Sabrina, Darci decides to make a deal with Sabrina that will hold her to her resolutions and keep Sabrina away from Avery in the process. The promise of getting the promotion and financial gain that she desperately wants is just too much for Sabrina to turn away from. So she decides to participate in Darci's scheme - in front of television cameras no less as Darci decides to track the progression of Sabrina's New Year's resolution for a ratings boost on her talk show.

Sabrina's journey is fascinating - even as she starts to kick herself for swearing off romance - especially as Avery is looking better and better.

Ms. Ford's writing blends humor, drama and romance very well. The stories that develop about Darci and others only add to the interest in the main story line surrounding Sabrina, Avery and Darci.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved This Story....., December 13, 2004
This review is from: Flippin' the Script (Hardcover)
Aisha Ford has written a humorous love story which connects the reader to the characters in such a way that they could very well be your next door neighbor, or the person you just had lunch with today, or maybe even just spoke with on the phone before you found your way to this website.

Sabrina wants to change her life. She wants a promotion at work, she wants to lose a few pounds, as well as keep her checkbook balanced, get more involved in church activities, cut down on drinking coffee, just to name a few items on her New Year's Resolutions list and above all she does not want to fall in love...again!!!

But unfortunately for Sabrina, her villanous boss, Darci accidently gets her hands on the list which allows her to put Sabrina in a very precarious position, with Darci calling all the shots.

Since she knows Sabrina wants that promotion, (And Sabrina is the assistant to the assistant to Darci who is the Daily Talk Show Host) Darci persuades Sabrina (only because Sabrina's job is in jeopardy if she doesn't) to enter into a secret agreement with Darci that if Sabrina keeps ALL of her resolutions, ESPECIALLY the one about not falling in love, then Darci will not only give Sabrina a promotion, but a $10,000 bonus as well.

But if she fails to keep just one of the resoltions, then Sabrina will more than likely lose her job. Oh yes. Keeping the agreement secret is important because they wouldn't want Avery (the Producer of the Daily Talk Show and ex-fiance to Darci) to find out. At least, Darci, who wants Avery back, doesn't want Avery to know about the agreement because he has recently taken an interest in Sabrina.

So. Grab you a cup of coffee, unless you promised yourself that you would quit, and get a hot cup of cocoa instead, and get comfortable in a cozy spot and begin reading Flippin' the Script by Aisha Ford. I'm sure you will love it as I did!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good and Enjoyable Read..., December 6, 2004
By
This review is from: Flippin' the Script (Hardcover)
As one who loves to read and a Christian, I must say this is an entertaining Christian fiction with humorous situations which had me laugh out loud every once in a while. You really like the characters in the book (well, not including Darcy) and want the best for all of them. It could have been a little more descriptive, but besides that, it was a fun and quick read while getting my hair done. I would recommend to anyone who likes Christian fiction and wouldn't mind a sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved This Story !!!, November 20, 2004
This review is from: Flippin' the Script (Hardcover)
And I love the characters because they "are" living in action; and we are allowed a peek into their lives, in all their glory, thru the eyes of Aisha Ford

The potential for romance...mingled with the usual office games of "jockeying for position...mixed together with the added flavor of a mystery to figure out...not to mention helping a good friend who is at a very tough crossroads in her life, etc. etc. etc...all while Sabrina holds on to her faith. Wow !! There's lots to see, hear, feel in this adventure of the heart.

Ford is a humorous storyteller; who can also "zero in" on pertinent subjects in such a way that the reader finds himself/herself in the midst of reading a true page turner.

She has written a "good book" and I am looking forward to another novel from her, and soon!!!

This review is from: Flippin' the Script (Hardcover)
Flippin' the Script is the story of Sabrina Bradley, a young Christian woman who is trying to do the right thing in terms of the workplace and matters of the heart. Thrown in her path is a challenging boss from hell, Darci, a woman who goes to great lengths to bring trouble to Sabrina. In addition, she struggles with romantic feelings for a colleague named Avery. The book is light in tone and a teensy bit predictable, but it's still an enjoyable read that offers fun insight into the life of people that are thrust into television's limelight. It also offers practical suggestions regarding staying true to your Christian walk in the midst of adversity.

This was my first time reading anything from the author but best believe it won't be the last. The author hit some very important facts about God, work-place, employement, relationships, etc. The two most important ones to me: be careful who you talk to in your work-place b/c they might not be who they say they are, they might end up being the one to save your job and always put God first when making a decision and you can't go wrong. Please pick this book up and enjoy every page from beginning to end.

3.0 out of 5 stars Resolutions Gone Amuck, November 6, 2004
This review is from: Flippin' the Script (Hardcover)
Have you ever made New Year's resolutions for your own detriment? Aisha Ford's Christian fiction novel, FLIPPIN' THE SCRIPT, chronicles the exploits of a young woman who does just that-she makes a resolution that could ruin her life. Sabrina Bradley, production assistant for the Daily Dose, the Midwest's hottest daytime talk show needs a well do makeover. Her boss-Daily Dose host, Darci Oliver has changed Sabrina's job responsibilities from supporting the producers to running personal errands for her. If Sabrina didn't have to pick up Darci's laundry, call Darci's caterer, rake the leaves out of Darci's yard and give Darci better show ideas, then Sabrina could make her much needed hair appointments, attend bible study, hock her engagement ring and do her real job.

She doesn't have the time to do any of it, not even time to build a new relationship with the Daily Dose producer, Avery Benjamin. But Sabrina shouldn't get her hopes up for Avery anyway, since Darci is his ex-girlfriend.

Then a window of opportunity opens for Sabrina. Darci and the producers of the show ask her to join their normally closed production meeting. When she's asked to produce a segment on whether people keep their New Year's resolutions, she jumps at the chance. There's only one hitch. To win her promotion, she has to keep all her resolutions---one of which is not falling in love. If she doesn't comply, not only will she lose the promotion; she will lose her job.

Sabrina needs her faith more than ever to make the right decision and stay focused. Yet, Avery's friendship grows stronger every day. His commitment to God, his job and to Sabrina makes him more irresistible and worth the sacrifice. Will she keep all her resolutions? Will she miss God's message for her life in the process?

Aisha builds a compelling novel that exposes us to the life of contemporary single and married Christians. We see how they must juggle their faith with their own personal and professional aspirations. We also see what God has to say about true romance and faith. We learn how to live in this world and all the while live above it. We learn how to love and sacrifice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lights, camera, ACTION!!, February 11, 2005

This review is from: Flippin' the Script (Hardcover)
Darci Oliver is the high profiled talk show host, who is dangling lives by the strands, cause she is a Diva in all the fashion. When the lights are out, she is the Wicked Witch in action, believing that she is "All that and a bag of chips." She has her employees scared, but everyone's who climbs the ladder if not careful will fall off the ladder. Sabrina Duncan is a God fearing, sweet, assistant, who is used more for girl friday duties, than real production business, due to her powerful boss "Darcie." Sabrina becomes one the panel employees on the talk show and life takes a 360 degree turn for Sabrina and those connected to her. Avery is the handsome Producer who has final say on the show and business and is victim to the "prominent Darcie" until he pursues other venues within the office and the "Stage performance begins." Sabrina has an ace in her corner, which most don't understand and that is her faith in God and her prayer life and humbleness allows her advantages that she is not always aware of, and God does protect his in the end and in this story, her angel ends up being a SUNNY day in the office, when she thought the storm was turning devastating for her. This story tells of realism in Corporate, the storms that we have to go through, and the reality of being a Christian among the world." I really enjoyed the story and you won't be able to figure this storyline out, it is definitely a pageturner and a surprising array of events. Very good job Aisha Ford.

4.0 out of 5 stars Is It Worth It?, October 24, 2004

This review is from: Flippin' the Script (Hardcover)
Have you ever made New Year's Resolutions? If so, were you able to keep them? Or did you find yourself giving up after only a couple of days or weeks? FLIPPIN' THE SCRIPT by Aisha Ford delves into not only making New Year's Resolutions but actually keeping them for a year. Imagine not only keeping the resolutions but being watched by cameras and on a daily talk show to ensure you keep them. Not sure if I could do it, could you?

Sabrina Bradley is the assistant to the assistant producer at a well-known daytime talk show called The Daily Dose. Fresh out of a dead-end relationship and attempting to get a promotion from the show's host, Darci Oliver, Sabrina is indeed stressed out. Sabrina decides to make some positive changes regarding her life and writes down some New Year's Resolutions. Darci inadvertently gets her hands on a copy of Sabrina's resolutions and assures her that if she makes the resolutions public via the talk show and agrees to keep them for a year, not only will Darci grant her a promotion but she will also receive a big bonus check. Although Sabrina knows how bad she wants the promotion and could use the extra money, is she willing to be followed for a year via the show? She agrees to the deal in an effort to prove she can keep her resolutions and that she is as strong as God's word says she is.

Being watched 24/7 is not an easy task. Shortly after making her resolutions on air, she isn't able to go anywhere without being recognized and asked how she is doing in keeping her resolutions. All Sabrina wants is to make it through the year while growing closer to God. She soon becomes the topic of various tabloid magazines, and while needing a listening ear, she finds the show's producer Avery Benjamin is not only attentive, fine and a great listener, he is also Darci's finance'. Sabrina realizes that God is all she has when times get tough and in an effort to strengthen her faith recognizes that she can do all things through Christ who strengthens her.

Light-hearted, entertaining and funny, FLIPPIN' THE SCRIPT is indeed a page turner. Seeing Sabrina's perseverance and determination to reach her goals, made me want to strive harder to achieve mine. What I enjoyed most about the book was how strong Sabrina was in her faith. She knew without a doubt that she couldn't do anything without God on her side. If you have ever had a hard time keeping or achieving any of your goals, pick up this book and the drive that Sabrina has will rub off on you.
