Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Starred Review. With this grin-on-your-face, hair-streaming-in-the-wind joyride of a novel, Enoch (England's Perfect Hero) takes a confident leap from historical to contemporary, giving readers a sensual romantic caper sure to win applause. Lightly modeled on To Catch a Thief, this tale launches with Samantha Jellicoe, cat burglar extraordinaire, breaking into the Palm Beach mansion of fabulously wealthy businessman Richard Addison, then saving Richard's life when a bomb is triggered halfway through her heist. Was the bomb designed to destroy evidence of an earlier theft, to kill Richard or to target Sam? With Richard wanting answers and Sam needing to clear herself of a murder charge, this unlikely duo teams up in an investigation that goes from professional to personal faster than you can say "counterfeit Picasso." But with each clue discovered—and each new murder attempt—the puzzle grows more elaborate. Refreshingly, Enoch makes no excuses for Sam's shady career choice or Richard's business ruthlessness, relying on the characters to create their own sympathy, and while Sam and Richard take tentative steps toward a real relationship, Enoch's surefootedness is apparent on every page. Though some readers may be disappointed by the lack of a traditional happily-ever-after, others will cheerfully await Sam and Richard's next adventure.

Product Description

In her dazzling romantic suspense debut, USA Today bestselling author Suzanne Enoch brings us a thrilling tale about a thief who needs to prove she's no murderer and the millionaire who loves her.

Samantha Jellicoe is a thief and proud of it. Raised to appreciate the finer things in life, Sam has no trouble divesting the wealthy of their treasures. This all changed, however, the night she attempts to steal a valuable item from a Palm Beach estate. Before she knew what hit her, a bomb goes off, a guard is killed, and Sam ends up saving millionaire Richard Addison. She's a good thief and will own up to her jobs, but if anyone thinks to tie her to murder, they better think again.

On any other night, having a one hundred plus pounds of female fling herself at you is a good thing. But on this particular night, Richard Addison is mad as hell. Not only did he just have his gallery blown up-with him about to enter it-but the woman who rescued him didn't stick around to offer any explanations. When the dust settles, Rick knows the only person with answers to his questions is the mystery woman. And if she thinks she can hide from him, she better think again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ms. Enoch Has Penned A Winner!!, March 27, 2005
I admit to reading anything this author writes...she is that good. I was so suprised when I found out that one of my favorite historical romance authors had switched gears and genres! My first thought was..."a contemporary romantic supsense read? No way!" WAY! Ms. Enoch has mangaged to switch gears without missing a step. The end result is a rather funny but entertaining read that you won't want to miss out on.

Sam Jellico is a thief. She has her standards but she's a thief none the less. She has just broken into Rick Addison's home. She is there for one item, and one item only. What she ends up getting is caught and not in the way you think. One minute she's almost home free...the next she is saving rich Rick from being blow sky high. Problem with this is she is now considered a suspect in the death of a security guard. She has only one witness to the fact that she didn't kill anyone...if anything she saved a life, and that witness is...yup, you guessed it Rick. Wull she be able to convince this handsome Brit that they can and should work together to figure out just who on earth wants Rick dead?

Rick should have been in Germany...instead he's home and right in the thick of things when BAM! His life is turned upside down. He knows that his lady thief is not responsible but the police think otherwise. Than the minx breaks in AGAIN and offers to make a deal with him. Should he get himself tied up with the beautiful thief or should he take his chances with a killer?

This was a very fast read! Samanatha and Rick are great characters. Both are strong willed and used to being in charge. It was fun to read about them falling in love while hunting for a sick would be murder. Ms. Enoch has taken on the genre of romantic suspense and has done so with style. I highly recommend this read and this author.

I do love Enoch's historicals so I was slightly hesitant to read her first contemporary. Thank goodness I did! Flirting with Danger is a fast, fun romp and I have tosay I think that her contemporary voice is even better than her historical one.

I won't give a plot synopsis. You can get that from the book description.

Sam is a wonderful heroine. I loved how unashamed she was of her past. She's unique and interesting and wholly likeable in her twisted nature. How rare is that?

And Rick? Oh my. Rich - check. Hot beyond hot - check. Totally adores Sam - check. Strong, muscular, handsome - check. Yeah, nice one.

Fun and interesting mystery. Excellent secondary characters. Steamy hot chemistry. Great dialog. I quite enjoyed Flirting With Danger and I'll definitely be looking forward to the others in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny First Contemporary, November 15, 2005

Flirting with Danger is a well written novel and I am looking forward to the next installment. I laughed so hard. Suzanne Enoch normally writes historicals. I had read an excerpt for this novel and was just a little nervous about reading it. I however thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent book.

The heroine does a few stupid things that cause the reader to laugh as well as the stupid things the hero does. It takes place in the United Staets which is also a step away from normalcy for Ms. Enoch. There is murder and intrigue that draws the reader in as well as the chemistry between the two main characters. The second in the series will be out in January and continues to follow the story of Samantha Jellicoe and Richard Addison.

More About the Author

A lifelong lover of books, Suzanne Enoch has been writing them since she learned to read. She is the author of two well-received Avon Regencies, The Black Duke's Prize and Angel's Devil, and five Avon Romances: Lady Rogue, Stolen Kisses, By Love Undone, Taming Rafe and Reforming a Rake. Born and raised in Southern California, Suzanne lives a few scant miles from Disneyland with her collection of Star Wars action figures and a Cairn terrier named Katie (after the heroine of her first Regency). She's still looking for her own hero, and hopes he will be handsome, titled, and just a little wicked. Meanwhile, she's currently at work inventing him in her next historical romance.
