Book Description

"If you love magic and romance, you will love Rowan's books."The Pen & Muse Book Reviews

"A writing force to be reckoned with."Smexy Books

One magic stew, one sexy fireman.

When Jessica Walker escapes the city life in Atlanta to pursue her dream of being a successful sculptor in Colorado, she departs with a gift: her best friend Lily's magical recipe for a "Get a Husband" Brunswick stew, guaranteed to work even though Jess recently drop-kicked her two-timing dirtbag boyfriend.

Skeptical Jess is sure the Rocky Mountains hold all the "magic" she needs, until a wildfire threatens to drive her from her new home—and a sweet and studly fireman comes to her rescue.

Flirting with the Fireman is a sweet romance—a short "first meeting" story of 4500 words (15 pages). Cate Rowan's lush romances have won more than thirty awards.

More magical romance by Cate Rowan:

Kiss That Frog
A cynical Los Angeles artist reluctantly pet-sits for her young niece's frog and discovers magic in the terrarium—in the form of a sexy enchanted prince.

The Source of Magic
A modern woman finds herself ensnared in a fantasy otherworld, trapped by treachery and family secrets—and opposing a mystical prince, the one man who can make everything right.

Kismet's Kiss
When a deadly epidemic strikes a sultan's realm, only a magical healer from an enemy land has the skill to save it. The sultan never imagined the healer would be a woman....

Swords and Scimitars
When two women beg for aid against tyranny, a sultan must sacrifice his freedom and his long-scarred heart to help them.

Sword and Lute
When a musician stumbles across a dying god, she must sacrifice her precious lute to save him and find her heart's desire.

As with other reviewers, I enjoyed the story so much I wish it didn't end so soon. But it's perfect the way it is. The rest is just gluttony on my part.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short and VERY Sweet. October 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Flirting with the Fireman is a short story. It's the kind that leaves you wanting more, but will let you dream your own ending. It reminds me of listening to my Grandma and Grandpa telling us the romantic story of how they met. I just wanted to go .."Awww[...]" after reading Flirting with a Fireman. A very romantic quick read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A "Cute Meet", just as promised January 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked it!

Perfect title. Flirting. A new beginning. A woman who's ready to take a chance, meet a special guy (Ben), feeling hopeful and looking forward to the possibilities in their future. I would've loved to see another 5 pages or so with this couple...beyond an invitation inside for breakfast. Would be nice to see his interest in seeing her again. That's just me...wishing for more of a very good thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute and sweet... September 3, 2013

Cute little romance. A little more story and character development would have been nice, but still an enjoyable story. Give it a read.

4.0 out of 5 stars aw....sweet July 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is one sweet short read, and even so I felt that Jess was flashed enough to hold the story.

This is a story if a magic soup and love, and no, you don't get to the HEA.

The story ends rather abruptly though we do get a glance at a potential HEA. Enough to keep us satisfied.

A part wish to know a bit more of what happened with Jess, but another part of me is content at the story and the ending- that was just REfreshing.

All in all a great short read, perfect for a busy/bad day so you could cheer up and relax.

Cate credits her favorite childhood authors--including J.R.R. Tolkien, Anne McCaffrey, Nora Roberts, Guy Gavriel Kay, and James Herriot--for her love of fiction, great characters, and a rich imagination. Writing became a force in her life when clever elementary school teachers assigned weekly creative writing projects. She wrote through high school, particularly when bored in class. (Rumor has it those early pages consisted of fantasies about Duran Duran, but she is silent on the issue and keeps those notebooks from prying eyes.) She put fiction aside to earn a Ph.D.--but her muse, even while stuffed in a dark closet, never shut up. Now she and her muse and her story people get to play every day. (There might be strawberry mojitos involved, but again, she's not saying.)
