This was a very clever take on fairy tales.

I was hooked at the start and read this through in one sitting, ending with a sigh and a happy heart.

I've loved every story I've read by Lisa Scott but these Fairy Tale Flirts were especially fun!

So far I have found all of Lisa's work to be engaging, sweet, and witty, and this collection is no different in that regard. The cleverness hinges on all the word-plays she peppers throughout the stories. I won't give them away here, because it's so fun to come across them as you read. Ms. Scott must have had a blast in conjuring up romantic tales revolving around five fairy tale stories. The characters are reminiscent of the original ones, but have their own unique personalities, perspectives, and goals that differ from the age-old tales we grew up on. Will each girl find her "prince"? Read and see.

Cindi is a modern-day Cinderella story that had me picturing Sarah Jessica Parker in the starring role. It was a wonderful shoe-affair! (5/5) Red, is a modern-day Red Riding Hood that I enjoyed better than the film that came out last year. This story was "naughty but nice". It made me laugh too, just so you know. (4/5) Belle, is a modern-day Beauty and the Beast, and just as romantic as you might think. It made me smile from ear-to-ear. (4/5) Snow, is a modern-day Snow White that made me think Michelle Pheifer would be great as the wicked step-mother. (Sorry, I can't help but picture everything in film....) Any way, I enjoyed it! (4/5) and lastly, Goldie, is a modern-day Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I have to say, always one of my favorite fairy tales, but even more so with a new-age twist. Also my favorite of them all. (5/5) So all-in-all I loved this set. It had all the elements of romance you need on a day like today, Valentines Day. I also loved how each story was a fairy tale, but also connected itself to something in the last. Very clever writing!

For her latest Flirts! set, Lisa Scott leaves Rochester, NY for Grimm Towers in New Royalton, and the real world for an updated fairy tale one. Lisa gives us fun versions of Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. As with all the Flirts! while each story can stand alone, the greater joy is in seeing how they all interconnect, and how the final story answers a question raised in the first. I enjoyed Cindi and Belle the best (and actually wish Belle had been the last one), but they were all nice takes on the stories we think we know. Fairy tale updates are all the rage these days (Grimm, Once Upon a Time) and this is a nice addition to that trend and to the Flirts! series.

Once again the book consists of five short stories and in this collection it centers around the characters from 5 different fairy tales. Read and enjoy this modern retelling of your favorite characters Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, Goldilocks and the Little Red Riding Hood. Each story is charming and you will love finding out how each character ends up with their prince.

If you want some cute short love stories, Lisa Scott is the one you want. Nothing heavy, nothing too involved. Just a lighthearted short love story that will make you smile. I love the way she took some well known fairy tales and turned them into modern day love stories.

Another wonderful series of shorts... you can read my entire review on my site here http://lisa.voidcast.ca/?p=29971. I love the connection of each story to the next! And using well known fairy tales as the building blocks to each contemporary series was wonderful.

I really found this little collection of fairy tales in a modern version very very funny and cute. A nice twist for old stories that are worthy to share with your friends (the ones who enjoy girly girl tales)

A nice spin on well known fairy tales with an adult twist. Little girls dreams weaved into big girl reality.
